Complaint: [redacted] I am rejecting this response because: The work performed was not authorized and it exceeded the estimate by 59%The estimate provided by [redacted] was $to drain the fuel and clean the carburetor I told him I thought that sounded high for the work performed and ask him how to remove the carburetorHe stated that if I did my Toro warranty would be void so I let him do the work he described. When I returned the bill was for $159.10, which included $to sharpen the blade ( not sure what this had to do with bad fuel), $for a new air filter ( which I had already checked and it was fine), $for a new spark plug, $to change the oil (which has nothing to do with bad fuel), $for a carburetor kit overhaul ( all they need to do was clean the month old one that was in place), $for labor, $for fuel ( which amount to about $per gallon), $for shop supplies ( which is not explained), plus tax for a total of $159.10.When I objected they said they would keep my $deposit and my month old Toro lawnmower if I did not payAdditionally they did not offer to show me or return the parts they removed I consider this a gross violation the the Texas Deceptive Trade and Consumer Protection ActSimilar complaints can be found on Yelp and their Facebook page This practice needs to be stopped or they will continue to due unauthorized and unnecessary workRegards, [redacted]

In regards to complaint reference to lawn mower repairs for customer *** *** *** *** brought his toro mower in for repairs to us** *** filled out our standard equipment repair form, that states specifically about work needed to be done, and also states in writing if customer
wants an estimate for the repair work*** *** was also advised of this verbally to read the customer sign in sheet and please sign for the work to be authorized*** *** did not check off on our customer sign in sheet that he wanted and estimate for us to do the repair work to just repair the unit as neededThe repair work was completed as requested The reason for the parts replaced were due to contaminated fuel (water) in the unitThe fuel system had to be cleaned, flushed out and new parts installedWe guarantee our work for days after work is completed Regards, *** *** *** * ***

I took my month old Toro mower in to * *** *** *** *** *** authorized Toro dealer in my areabecause it was stalling They said it was probably bad gas and would need to drain the gas and clean the carburetor Cost would be When I returned to pick it up the charge was I asked why and they said it was bad gas but they always do a full tune up which included changing the oil the air filter spark plug sharpening the blade and carburetor kit This is not what I asked them to do nor was it what they told me they would doThe lawn mower was only months old and had only been used times It did not need this work When I objected they said I had to pay or leave the lawn mowerOne person actually laughed at me There are other similar complaints against this establishment on-line I wish I had read them before I took my mower inIs there anything that can be done or are consumers at the mercy of service people like this

Complaint: [redacted]
I am rejecting this response because: The work performed was not authorized and it exceeded the estimate by 59%. The estimate provided by [redacted] was $100 to drain the fuel and clean the carburetor.  I told him I thought that sounded high for the work performed and ask him how to remove the carburetor. He stated that if I did my Toro warranty would be void so I let him do the work he described. When I returned the bill was for $159.10, which included $10 to sharpen the blade ( not sure what this had to do with bad fuel), $12.08 for a new air filter ( which I had already checked and it was fine), $4.20 for a new spark plug, $9.99 to change the oil (which has nothing to do with bad fuel), $28.75 for a carburetor kit overhaul ( all they need to do was clean the 4 month old one that was in place), $75 for labor, $2.75 for fuel ( which amount to about $11 per gallon), $4.25 for shop supplies ( which is not explained), plus tax for a total of $159.10.When I objected they said they would keep my $44.60 deposit and my 4 month old Toro lawnmower if I did not pay. Additionally they did not offer to show me or return the parts they removed.  I consider this a gross violation the the Texas Deceptive Trade and Consumer Protection Act. Similar complaints can be found on Yelp and their Facebook page.  This practice needs to be stopped or they will continue to due unauthorized and unnecessary work. Regards,
