C R I Irrigation Services Reviews (1)

CRI installed 2 separate water pumps in my water feature. Both pumps failed. Pump is still under warranty. Called CRI many times, no response.
I have a 7 year old home builder provided waterfall feature in my back yard. In Dec 2011 the water-fall's "pump float switch" failed resulting in wasted water and an unusual large water bill. CRI replaced the "float switch" at a cost of $350 and provided a letter that I submitted to my water department seeking a reduction of past water bills, which I subsequently received. CRI was the first company, and only company to date, to service my water feature since the home was purchase new in July 2007. Needless to say I was very satisfied with the services provided by CRI. This work was accomplished by CRI tech "[redacted]"

In May 2013 the water pump failed and based upon my past experience with CRI I sought "[redacted]" to provide services. Was informed that "[redacted]" no longer worked for CRI and that "[redacted]" the president of CRI would work on my water feature. The water pump was replaced by CRI/[redacted] at a cost to me of $1100. The replacement pump was an identical model pump (80WQ Series) proved by the home builder. CRI obtained the new pump from "F&Q Pumps Inc" a West Coast (South El Monte Ca.) manufacturer/supplier. The user manual indicated the pump had a 1 year warranty.

The new pump failed in late Aug 2013. After several calls seeking service a new CRI tech "[redacted]" removed the broken pump. [redacted] indicated he needed to take the pump to the CRI shop and have it checked out. He said that he would discuss specific actions with his boss ([redacted]). On 25 Sept I talked with "[redacted]" who indicated that the pump motor "burned-out" due to ingesting rocks that had apparently fallen into the water pump well during previous servicing/replacements by CRI. He further indicated that CRI was exchanging email with the West Coast vender seeking a replacement pump. [redacted] further indicated that pump replacement was "warranty work" and suggested "it was CRI installation /service issues that the pump was ingesting rocks". After several further discussions with CRI the pump (I assume under warranty) was replaced with an identical model on 16 Oct 2013 at no cost to me.
This second pump as well as the first pump installed by CRI both seemed to pump water at a higher volume than the original pump causing water to splash outside of the designed water containment area thus preventing water from being recycled. The second pump also ingested rocks. However, I noticed that the pump was working hard and I shut it down prior to burning out another motor and notified CRI, "[redacted]" about the continuing problem.
In early Nov 2013 [redacted] removed rocks from the pump intake and placed a "[redacted]-Rigged" filter over the pump intake in an effort to prevent the pump from ingesting rocks. The pump motor was functioning after removing the rocks from the intake. [redacted] also attempted to remove/clean rock from the pump well that had fallen in during prior CRI servicing. When [redacted] left the pump was working but was pumping water at a very high volume and appeared to wasting water meant to be recycled. I voiced this concern to [redacted] seeking a solution and he indicated he would discuss the issue and my concerns with [redacted].
Several days later in early/mid Dec 2013 the pump failed. I called [redacted]'s CRI provided cell phone and left voice mail regarding the failure. [redacted] did not return my calls subsequently I attempted to call CRI president "[redacted]" with no results. I then called CRI's office, "[redacted]" and was informed that [redacted] no longer worked for CRI. I shared my issues with [redacted] and she indicated [redacted] would call. Over the next several weeks/months I called [redacted] repeatedly and left messages on CRI web site. I believe both pumps were installed incorrectly and cannot get CRI to stand behind their work. Much less talk with me regarding this issue.
