CR&J has re-roofed my house [redacted] and didn't seal properly, now have bat infestation.
I have tried to contact [redacted] at CR&J several times to discuss the issue with shoddy workmanship which resulted in bats nesting and hibernating in my attic since the new roof was put on [redacted].

I left voice messages [redacted] and also sent email [redacted]. He has never responded. There is no excuse for lack of response since their primary business is roofing and clearly it is not the busy season.

I had a bat get into my bedroom [redacted] and had it removed by animal control [redacted]. The bat was in my bedroom so it was sent to SD state lab and was tested for rabies. That bat test came back negative, but on [redacted] I was bitten in the head while sleeping, went to a doctor on [redacted] who confirmed bat bites. This bat has never been found and so the medical recommendation is to get the rabies vaccine treatment because we cannot test the bat that bit me.

I have hired a bat removal company but they cannot remove the bats until they voluntarily leave when mosquitoes are present this spring, then every entrance in the roof will need to be sealed. I want [redacted] to be present when they are here to see the locations the bats are entering my house. I feel he needs to be responsible for the cost of bat proofing my house and probably any rabies medical expenses that are not going to be covered by my health insurance.

The cost from the bat company is $[redacted] and does not include the cost of cleaning up the guano in the attic. I do not yet have the total bills for the rabies vaccine, but the initial dose was over $[redacted].

Prior to CR&J roofing my house, [redacted] had gone up in the attic area because I mentioned a small water leak that I thought may be coming from one of the roof vents. He went all the way up into the attic and there was absolute no bat guano present anywhere at that time. Even the bat company who came on [redacted] had estimated that I probably have 5-10 bats that have been here a couple of years based on the amount of guano, which is exactly the timeline of the new roof.

I have been living in fear for months and will continue to be afraid to sleep until all the bats are removed from my house. The loss of sleep has caused me to do poorly at work (I'm self employed and work from home)and I have suffered a loss of income as a result.

I will document the gaps and openings that are found by the bat proofing company when they arrive but also wanted [redacted] to be present. I do not yet have a date when they will be here but expect it could be as early as next week.
