August 31,2015Revdex.comBryant Woods SouthAmherst, NY 14228RE: ID [redacted] To Whom It May Concern:I am in receipt of the letter associated with the above referenced ID #.The facts as detailed in the letter of complaint are essentially accurate as to the description of the shared aspects of the apartment rental in questionI elect to not comment on the behaviors of other residents in thebuilding or their guests as this is certainly inappropriate and beyond our control.The one area with which I will take exception is where the complainant states that, in her opinion, "there should be no reason for a management company to refuse to put a typical locking mechanism on an apartment door..." - indeed, we had a very good reason, we were prevented by City of Ithaca Building code from doing soAs stated in the letter the door was a 'form of egress' and could not be lockedIt is true that had the door inquestion been allowed to swing out into the hallway then a standard lock with panic hardware could have been installed on the doorHowever, the door was, by City of Ithaca Building Code, not permitted to swing out into the hallway and, thus, swung into the apartmentThis made locking the door not possible as was explained by my staff.All of that said I wish the complainant had simply written to our office upon receiving the Security Deposit Refund StatementOn the bottom oft each refund statement we send out it clearly states: "If you have a question regarding the explanation of charges please write to us." Had she done so we would have told her that the statement was sent out in error and that the neither C.S.PManagement nor the Landlord had any intention of pursuing her for the unpaid balance of the lease.I regret that the tenant felt her only option was to contact the Revdex.comI trust this will close the matter and I apologize for having inconvenienced anyone.Sincerely,Jerry D***
