C & T Exteriors Reviews (1)

We drew up a contract on 7/14/16. At that time I informed the customer we were 2 months out from starting the job. I also indicated a 4 week completion time.  At the beginning of August we had a big job reschedule. At that time I asked if we could tear off the old siding and prep the house as...

fill in work. I explained that we still were at least a month away from installation. They indicated they were fine with that as long as it was finished by winter. We showed up on August 16. When we tore of the existing siding we found rotted plywood and no insulation on the main house. We were forced to sheet the entire main house with plywood. The [redacted] got estimates for the insulation. I offered to do it a bit cheaper and immediately so they agreed. We tore off, re-sheeted, insulated, and prepped the house for insulation. We left on 8/22/16 with an expectation of return in 4 to 5 weeks. We returned on 9/28/16 and worked straight through until completion 11/1/16. Even if we count the first week that is only 2 ½ months. In reality it took us 6 weeks. Over my estimated time frame but there were a lot of extras.Customer: “There were times the crew worked only a few hours then went to another job”We left during planned work only one time. I asked ahead of time to do an emergency roof for another customer. They said it was ok  that was 10/10 and 10/11. We were there every day. I left to do small jobs and estimates. If I left 10 times in a month that may seem a lot to them.Customer: “He also does not answer phone calls. Would leave several messages, but he insinuated that I was harassing him. “After we tore off the siding the [redacted] called within two weeks asking when we were going to return. She called 13 times in one day and left 7 messages. I returned her call the next day. I told her that there was no need to call that many times. She said she gets antsy  when people don’t answer her. We left it at that and moved on. The very next week I was out of town for the weekend. She left me multiple messages again over two days. The messages were belittling, derogatory, and offensive. I did tell her at that time she was harassing me and I was still operating within the expected time frame. I also asked her to never swear at me or speak to me that way again. She told me she was sorry , just anxious since the work had started (tear off) and she couldn’t wait for it to get done.I offered to replace a chimney 25’ pipe for free if they bought the materials. This is a typical pipe that is common on houses. On the last day of the job I went to pick it up. The local place did not stock all the parts needed. I was forced to order them. It was a week lead time. The next week I came in to pick up the parts and the store had forgotten to bring in the elbow. So now I had to wait another week for the elbow to come in.  After it came in it took me a week to get it installed. After the first week, and the elbow debacle, the [redacted] called and began yelling at me and swearing to me again. I did not answer her calls after that.Customer: “He would also constantly ask for money”When we drew up the contract we discussed a payment plan due to the extended time frame of this type of job. They agreed. I asked for money 3 times over six weeks. Once when we finished the tear off. Once when started the siding installation, and one more time after about two weeks of work.  The customer has told me since she filed this complaint that they did not recall the payment plan discussion. If this is true I do see a side where this could be annoying.Customer: “The job which he did not finish would only take about one hour to complete”The last part that was not finished according to Mrs. [redacted] was completed according to the conversation that Mr. [redacted] and I had. One of my guys went back to finish the job. Mr. [redacted] asked him to finish it in a way that would leave the sill plate and [redacted] door header exposed to ice back up. As a matter of fact the house already had to have a wall built in the basement to hold up floor joist due to rot from this exact same issue. My worker called me to express is disagreement. I spoke to Mr. [redacted] and told him that if he wanted it done the wrong way I would have nothing to do with it. He told me it wasn’t wrong because he seen a picture on the internet. Well my guy an arrangement to complete the job the way the [redacted] wanted to keep him happy. Because it was a way we didn’t plan to do it we did not have the material there to do it. My guy had personal issues and basically didn’t work for two months. He never completed the last part. Mr. [redacted] never told Mrs. [redacted] about our exchange. She had no idea of my refusal to do it in a way I didn’t feel comfortable with when she filed this complaint. So as far as I was concerned it was done. As far as Mr. [redacted] knew it was between him and the guy that agreed to do it. As far as Mrs. [redacted] knew the job was left unfinished. When I went back to finish this part Mr. [redacted] admitted he never told his wife about our conversation. He indicated he may have had a few to many. He didn’t recall the conversation until I reminded him about a specific point of it.This was by far the worst customer I have ever dealt with. I have never been belittled and spoken to the way I was repeatedly. Even the day I came back to finish I had to ask the one [redacted] to verbally restrain the other. They came out on the porch swearing at us even though we were completing the job as requested. I do believe if we wouldn’t have tore of the siding ahead of time a lot of this improperly vented anxiety could have been avoided. This created a false time frame, which in turn created false expectations. Secondly, if the two homeowners would have communicated with each other awareness would have been higher and anger and aggravation would have been much lower.
