Complaint: [redacted] I am rejecting this response because:Installer never asked me about the outlet for his equipment which by the way is right on the column of covered area adjacent to which my car is parkedI asked him if he needed anything, he said no, and started workingI went back to my place, which also has nice view on the parking lot and I can see my carSo I know for sure that he? never used anybody's outlet (neighbor's window??) and he didn't clean the majority of glass in the car, because I did that the day before, since I needed to check if my car was starting, and couldn't do that with glass in the driver's seatSo I cleaned bulk of the glass from the seat and floor by myself the day before he cameAfter he was finished installing the window he said that some glass remained in the door and it will take a while to get it all out, he couldn't do it because he didn't have vacuum with himI didn't know at that time that the common practice is for glass installers is to clean up remaining pieces of glass from the door.Insurance appraisal person came ? few days later (after window installation) to inspect the vehicle and suggested the mechanic to remove the glass form the doorI also realized that the battery was drained due to the inside car light being left on by whoever broke in the car, so that's why I had to replace itI never accused them of doing anything to the battery, I merely was surprised it didn't start day after installing the window, although it did start when I checked on the day window was installed.? Mechanic I took my car later was shocked to learn that the shop that installed the window didn't clean the glass in the door, and when I said that he didn't bring vacuum with him, mechanic said he should have gone back and brought it and clean the doorInsurance refused to reimburse me because my total cost of repairing window and removing glass was below $(which I cover)I am not sure what is the C&W AutoGlass rate of cleaning the glass from the door, but I would prefer to have the job done properly than to have it done at two placesI don't know why the installer didn't bring the vacuum with him, if he did, he would have cleaned the doorAnd I don't know how the C&W AutoGlass can claim he had the vac, when he told me himself he didn't have it Sincerely, [redacted]

Our auto glass installer arrived (via mobile unit) and spoke to the customer about replacing her door glassIn the course of the conversation, the installer mentioned that his inverter (this is a device used to provide electricity) in his van was having trouble providing the necessary voltage
to use the vacuum sweeper he had with himHe pointed these two items out to the customerHe then asked her if she had an outlet close by so he could get to the electricity to operate the vacuum sweeperShe said she did notThe customer informed the installer not to worry about this and that she would take it to another shop to have the glass removed from the car and door As the installer replaced the door glass, a neighbor approached him and offered an outlet for his vacuum sweeperThe installer used his 100' extension cord, weaved it through the neighbor's window, plugged it in and used the vacuum sweeper to clean out the broken glass in her car and in the doorThis took him over minutesHe was able to get 99.5% of the broken glass out of the car and doorAfter completing the installation, the installer had the customer start her car and roll the door glass up and down to make sure it worked properly and that she was satisfied with the installation. She was satisfiedHe then explained that he was able to find a source of electricity from her neighbor and vacuum the cavity of the car and the door. He further explained that there may be a 'few' shards of glass in some 'nooks and crannies' in the door where his tools and vacuum could not reach to removeHe pointed out holes in the bottom of the door and how the few remaining shards would eventually work themselves out of the doorThis is a common occurrence in most door glass installations in the auto glass industryHe shook the door so she could hear the few remaining shards in the door that were in the 'nooks and crannies' of her doorShe understood his explanation and agreed Later, the customer called us and requested that C&W Auto Glass reimburse her $for the glass removalWe have refused to pay this amount for reasons: 1- Earlier, the customer explained to the installer that she would take her car to another shop to get ALL the broken glass out of her car and doorAgain, the installer used his vacuum sweeper and a source of electricity and was able to remove 99.5% of the glass in the car cavity and door while the customer was insideThe customer called us the next day (4/21/- We have this documented) and accused us of doing something to her battery because her car wouldn't start. We explained to her that we did nothing to the batteryNote: The car started when she tested the door glass for operation while the installer was present. On 4/29/she took her car to a shop of her choice to have the battery replaced and while there she asked the mechanic if they could try to take out the few remaining shards of glass in her door, (She told us this over the phone on 5/01/16). We believe $for removing a few shards of remaining glass in her door is a unacceptable chargeShe further informed us that the shop manager directed her to have her insurance reimburse her the $The insurance refusedBy the way, the insurance rate for glass removal is currently $35. We charged her nothing for removing the glass in her car and door 2- We explained to her that the few remaining shards (We are talking about 15-small pieces of glass) would eventually work their way outThis of course, takes a little more time than a few days
