In 2008, I remodeled my kitchen with items purchased from Floor to Ceiling. The purchase included a Venetian Gold granite counter top that was supplied/installed by Gerali Custom Design of Elgin, Il. Over time, the counter top has darkened to the point that it is now a dark, dirty-looking gold color. The backsplash remains noticeably lighter than the counter top. Comparing how the counter top looks today with photos taken after installation shows a dramatic darkening of the counter top, which has been maintained with the instructions and products recommended by the seller.A Floor to Ceiling employee came to my house and observed the counter top. He agreed that there was a difference in appearance between the backsplash and the counter top and took photos of the counter top before he left.He returned and asked if he could treat the counter top with a solution of hydrogen peroxide and water. This did not fix the problem. He also said he had been told using Liquid Plumber on it would remove the darkness, but said that seemed rather extreme given that this was a food preparation area. I agreed and did not use Liquid Plumber. At our request the owner of Floor to Ceiling came to look at the counter top. When asked why the counter top had darken, he said it was from cooking in the kitchen and wiping the counter top with a greasy rag. Since cooking normally occurs in a kitchen and I followed the instructions for maintaining the counter top, this is a less than satisfactory explanation.The only real help I was given was a small can of Dupont Stonetech grease remover. Applying it in selected areas produced mixed results. After two applications, portions of the test area lightened up but in others the results were not good. This treatment would require the product be applied inch thick over 26 square feet multiple times at a cost of more than $800 with questionable results. No offer of reimbursement was made to correct what I feel was an improperly sealed granite counter top.

In reply to your email of 01/21/14, I have not heard from the company involved. In that regard, the complaint was filed against The Floor to Ceiling Store, but your email lists the business as C & W Enterprises Inc. I assume that your research shows that this is the true owner of the Floor to Ceiling Store and that we are still talking about the same business.
