My boyfriend and I rented a home from Chris Warren Realty. My security deposit was a total of $1645.00. My lease indicated that upon move out they would have the home professionally cleaned and take it out of the security deposit, in which we were fine with. Upon submitting our notice to vacate we received a checklist, no letter attached or instructions, just a checklist with only one item highlighted, which was to have the carpets professionally cleaned. [redacted] advised that we could have his company complete the carpet cleaning in which they would deduct the cost out of the security deposit, in which we were fine with. We received our security deposit return on 10/31/13. Included with the return were invoices for the cleaning of the home and carpets which totaled $439.76, in which we anticipated these fees are not in dispute, however, there was another invoice for "touch up" paint needed in five areas of the home. This total was $44.33 for the paint materials and $200.00 for the labor. This should be considered normal wear and tear seeing as there was no damage to any walls of the home. After emailing [redacted] to inquire about the fees that we were charged for the painting and for proof of the damaged walls,his response was that he requires all tenants with master paint colors in the home to touch up the paint. [redacted] advised in his response that since I took the time to express my concerns that he would be willing to reimburse the cost of the paint, which was $44.33, but we are still being charged for the labor of $200.00 for normal wear and tear. We had problem after problem living in that home, but we stuck out our year lease and paid our rent on time every month with no questions. Mr. Warrens response to my email was condescending and offensive, my initial inquiry to him was not rude but the response we received in return was completely unprofessional.
