Revdex.com:I have reviewed the response made by the business in reference to complaint ID [redacted] I wish to submit the following factual corrections: The business refers trouble with flooding re-occurring due to plumbing issuesThis is untrueThe water damage in the kitchen was caused by a wrong-size fitting used when a new dishwasher was installedThis was resolved before the plumbers were involved and was not a result of any plumbing problems in our homeAdditionally, when questioned on the plumbing increase, Barry said "an estimate is just an estimate." He should have used this opportunity to explain that the scope of the work had been changed, if in fact it had been changed The business states they had never used Isaak P [redacted] beforeWe were told by Barry multiple times before and after that he had used him multiple times and "never, ever had any problems" with him beforeIf that was not truthful, that was information we should have had The business states that we rejected their first bid from a subcontractorThis is also not trueBarry gave the price of the first bid and simultaneously offered to get a second bid, which is standard practiceWe were offered no guidance as to why either tiler would be better than the otherIn response to direct questions about the decision, Barry said, "I don't know anything about tile." We do want the cost of lost materials, tile, grout and mortar, to be deducted from the total job, as per our previous emailWe accept the price of the original build for the installation of the new tileI find that this resolution is otherwise satisfactory to me and will contact the recommend tile installer for another appointmentThanks to everyone involved for your timeI know we all look forward to finishing this project Sincerely, [redacted] and [redacted]

First and formost I want to express our gratitude that Revdex.com exists to help in these type of issuesI am finding that communication or lack of communication always seems to be at the center of the issueThis seems to be the case with Ms*** and her partner, Ms***.
We have
every intention of completing the job and repairing the mislaid tileWe originally quoted Ms*** and Ms*** the price from our usual tile layerHe is more expensive but does an amazing jobMs*** and Ms*** refused that price which meant we had to go out to bidWe ended up with a tile layer we had not used before, but was licensed and bonded and used by a repitable flooring business in townWe made the mistake of invoicing Ms*** and Ms*** thinking the job was done but were called back in for review. Thank goodness they called us backWe were totally austonished by the bad workmanshipThis individual admitted that he had done a bad job and we will of course never use him again on any of our jobsThe problem was now that the materials had been usedAt that point we agreed to hire another contractor and that we would pay for the new materialsI noticed on the complaint that Ms*** and Ms*** want us to deduct the price of the materials they had purchasedWe can either do that or pay for the new materials as originally offereedEither way we want to make that right
As for the second contractor, he missed the appointment due to illnessWe prompted him to contact Ms*** or Ms*** to explain and set up another appointmentHe has told us that he has contacted them to set up a new appointment but has not received a responseWe do not have any other tile layers we can recommend with confidence. We are left with this individual that did not show up because of illness and our original tile layer whom Ms*** or Ms*** refused due to price.
We would like Ms*** or Ms*** to reconsider using our second recommendation and return his calls to set up an appointmentWe have used this individual directly, he is licensed and bonded and have been happy with his workHe is not as pricey as our usual tile layer but since we have used him we know we can safely be his referenceWe also have his licensing informationSince he has not been able to review the job as yet we are unsure of his final priceWe will negotiate the price as low as possible but we cannot expect him to not charge for work as he sees fitWe do want to make this right and will only invoice for the original bid and “eat” the difference to make things right for Ms*** and Ms***
The higher plumbing price is easy to explainThe plumber gave us a price for the work over the phoneHe is our usual plumberWhen he went to the job he found huge issues with the original plumbingWithout fixing those problems he felt that the flooding problem they had dealt with previously would reoccurAdmittedly, this should have been communicatedIt appears that this may not have been explained to the customersWe were not aware of it until we received the bill for $We did change that line item but did not mark it up since the price had come in higherWe will negotiate that price with our plumber and only charge as originally bid, personnally paying the difference
Since no other line item was mentioned I am not sure what other items Ms*** is referring toThe customers did request that we install a new cabinet countertop which is of course added to the final invoice
To make things right we will:
Either deduct the original price of materials per invoice off the job total or pay for the new materials ourselves.
Negotiate the price with the plumber since additional work was performed but not approved by the customers and will personally pay for the difference and only invoice for original bid
Negotiate the second tile layer and hopefully come as close as possible to the original price and again pay the difference and only invoice for the original agreed upon bid of $
To move forward we do need Ms*** and Ms*** to return our contractor’s call so he can go in and complete the workWe have learned an important lessonIn an effort to keep the price down and be helpful, in the end you do get what you pay for and we ended up with a problemQuality is indeed better than a lower priceFrom now on if a bid is too high, we stand behind the good workmanship even if it means we may loose the jobLoosing a job will be better than having an unhappy dissatisfied customer at the end resulting from bad workmanshipWe agree to loose money on this job in an effort to have a satified customer in Ms*** and Ms*** and I urge them to contact our second tile layerI hope this resolves the complaint
Laurel l* ***
