Cabinet Market Daytona Reviews (%countItem)

Mark D uses predatory sales tactics (violating FTC) to prey on vulnerable consumers that place trust in him for his expertise in his profession.
I Have full intention of going to all forms of media to expose this fraud
12-10-2019
Cabinet Market
1757 N Nova Rd STE 102, Holly Hill, FL 32117
Dear Mark D (owner),
You have ignored my requests for proper mediation concerning all of our differences.
I will discuss three separate purchases from you and list my complaints.
1. Kitchen cabinets
2. Master Bathroom cabinets 3. Outdoor kitchen.
For starters, you never provided me with any itemized receipts despite several requests.
After I notify you of error in the cabinet order, you disappear for weeks at a time without word, but when it comes time to collect money, you are at my home within minutes.
You have been absent from all installation to the kitchen and bath that you designed and sold me.
You can't simply state that installation has nothing to do with you when you designed my kitchen, set up the installers, and placed it on your invoice. Im sure you wish you could evade that accountability but its on your invoice. I hired you in good faith.
Your attempt to send me an unlicensed electrician speaks volumes.
The first set of installers that you sent were dirtbags smelling of marijuana and blaring their hard rock music as if my home were a bar.
They destroyed the first set panels that were sent to my home because of your error in not notifying them that the upper cabinets were custom depth. They stormed out of here like disgruntled children.
Your attempts to chase off the second installer from my home has failed and will be testified to. You bragging about delaying my kitchen is duly noted and will be testified to.
The Kitchen
1. Several cabinets and doors are damaged. Despite several requests you continue to ignore this. You stated you would also order 1/4" panels (see video) to cover the major scratches inside the units but they have not yet arrived and now you claim they were never ordered.
2. You sold me a 33" oven unit when the specifications from Bosch called for a 30". You also sold me two drawers underneath which also break specification code by placing oven too high in dangerous position. You up-sold me to something I didn't need (unnecessary) for your greater profit. Your 33" would not even fit in the area as indicated by your own plans and computer graphics. This is a predatory sales tactic. This was a Big mistake! When your second installer made the oven cabinet to correct specifications of Bosch, you were clearly mad and erroneously held me accountable (see video). Not only did you charge me for the original 33" cabinet but you stated the kitchen would not proceed until I paid you an additional $2k (see email as evidence.) You simply got caught "up-selling" me, reacted and try to further profit. You held my kitchen hostage for ransom. This is EXTORTION. You took
advantage of my kitchen ignorance. I hired you in good faith and you simply took advantage. Unfortunately for you, the legal system and Federal Trade Commission (FTC) has laws to protect me (see below). Even after I paid your ransom, you then withheld proper receipt from me stating that "I changed my mind" and appropriate drawers were not ordered? Now I know why you took my money and ran out of my house without giving me a receipt. Finally, today you give me an erroneous receipt with your lies again. I have yet to receive any of these items.
3. The bottom drawer to the 30" wall oven unit is missing.
4. You had me tear up unnecessary tile and lay more down (see video), then you deny this.(see video and witness). video and witness). Your claim that I suddenly, and unnecessary, decide to tear up tile and lay down more is absurd. You are obviously more concerned with up-selling then proper design measurements.
5. I requested 13" garbage bin cabinet which I did not get...
6. 18" x 30" Doors over microwave area are missing!
7. 18" x 30 doors are missing under the farm sink.

Cabinet Market Daytona Response • Dec 24, 2019

The only items that were missing were the items on back order which this customer was informed of at the time of order placement, no products have come defective to our knowledge and were inspected for damages prior to delivery. Additionally the customer has also made numerous changes with the product in his residence creating material shortage

At no time have we ever denied any type of warranty nor would we for the cabinet products that we sell nor do we ever or ever have performed in a predatory or bait and switch business format

The customer chose the product he wanted, agreed to the floor plan layout that was explicitly explained in complete and full detail additionally signed off on all cabinets ordered, all policies and procedures.

Additionally this consumer has had people doing work in his home that are unlicensed contractors for plumbing and electrical we can not be associated with this type of a consumer as we operate within 100% compliance of licensing guidelines

Customer Response • Jan 06, 2020

(The consumer indicated he/she DID NOT accept the response from the business.)
the two changes that I made to the kitchen have NOTHING to do with this problem. This is the owners attempt to divert from the truth. You will see through our emails that is evasion of accountability is second to none.
I have never had any unlicensed electrician or plumber in my home. I have receipts to prove all of this. The owner lies again.
The kitchen plans that were designed by the owner ,Mark D, does not align with the cabinets he sold me (proof through his drawings and computer image). In his errors, he forced me to pay for replacements (extortion) in order to continue with the build. Over a month later I find out he still has not ordered those particular cabinets. I have proof through emails.
The owner sold me useless and unnecessary cabinets for my island because plumbing and electrical are in the way. This is against the law according to the FTC.
The owner stated that plumbing and electrical was "unforeseen incidence" and he is not accountable..
According to the owner, he has 20 years experience and claims he didnt know the plumbing and electrical would have been an issue. THIS IS NOR REASONABLE. You can guarantee he profited from all his useless upscales to me. This is against the law.
In addition, many wrong/useless items have arrived and wrong colors and many missing pieces are still not here.
I have not had a kitchen due to his negligence for several months now.
Look at the pics below and see the plumbing and electrical..the cabinets are unnecessary and useless.

Cabinet Market Daytona Response • Jan 07, 2020

We deny all accusations and claims the customer has made. We have a full email trail and phone conversations to the distributorship of the product. The customer was fully aware of the process and again we state that he signed off on all documents. We have done everything in our power to speed the process of warranty and we have sent shipments direct to the customer. Again, we have not violated FTC, or extorted anything from this customer.

We ordered a quartz countertop with a square sink and stressed a square sink from the first interaction. The counter with an oval sink was installed.
8/20/18
Our first interaction and estimate for $1,695 for a vanity and quartz countertop with square sink.

A final measure was completed by the owner, Mark D, and we agreed to proceed. Received a phone call from Angel (she manages the store) telling me she forgot to include freight and assembly costing an additional $275. Mark also mentioned to*** at this time that small drawers could be included on either side of the sink at no additional cost.

9/6/18
Our final estimate was sent. And although we were not happy the price had gone up we wanted to proceed as demolition and rebuild of the bathroom was to begin. We also agreed to an additional price increase of $75 on the vanity as the doors and drawers we wanted and were told were out of stock, were then available.

9/26/18
Our vanity was delivered. One of the doors under the sink bowl was installed at a crooked angle however our contractor fixed this. The vanity also did not have the two side drawers promised and we were told by Angel that the one particular vanity we received did not have that feature.

10/12/18
Our countertop was delivered and installed with an oval sink.

10/12/18
Phone calls were made to the office. My wife and I both spoke to Angel, who admitted they made a mistake and that she was waiting to hear back from Mark regarding the error. Email sent to owner Mark D requesting a solution. His response was bewildering and very unprofessional. He offered to meet us half way on a new countertop for $1,700.

10/15/18
My wife drove up to the store and waited 45 minutes to speak with Mark. He was hostile toward her in front of other customers and stated he is not perfect and neither is she and we should just live with our imperfect bathroom or pay half of the cost of the new countertop.

10/16/18 Email to Mark D of Cabinet Market:

Being you are willing to meet us half way on a new countertop for $850 we would rather be refunded our cost of $850 plus the expenses of the sink and half the freight bill.
Please see the attached PDF file detailing money owed to us due to the fact Angel did not have change when I paid cash for the vanity/countertop/sink.

$850 quartz countertop refund
$100 half freight bill
$45 cost of square sink
$5 owed from purchase
$1000

I ask that you reconsider your stance on this matter. We hired your professional cabinet company who made an error. We simply expect professionalism in rectifying it.
We will also be happy to put this behind us and go our separate ways.

10/17/18 Email response from Mark D of Cabinet Market:
The quartz countertop money will not be refunded due to the countertop is not incorrect. It is the material that you ordered and received. The freight bill was for the cabinets only and you received them, no refund will be issued for that. I will refund you the cost of the sink in the amount of $45.00. I will give you what you are owed from a previous payment in the amount of $5.00, I do apologize for that as it was overlooked. The total amount I am willing to refund is $50.00.

10/17/18 Email response to Mark D of Cabinet Market:

Please mail us the $50 refund check.

We have been advised against having the same countertop cut again to accommodate a square sink. Therefore, please discontinue any efforts to obtain a square sink on our behalf.

Kindly, forward the name and contact information of the company that delivered, cut and installed the countertop and sink.

11/13/18 No response from Cabinet Market and we have not received our $50 refund.

Desired Outcome

We wish to be refunded the $50 promised us. After speaking with two attorneys, and as we were told by Mark D, materially we received what we ordered: a quartz countertop with a sink. We do like the countertop but get to look at this company's mistake everyday!

Cabinet Market Daytona Response • Nov 16, 2018

The ***'s came in and were initially given a rough quote as I, Angel, told them that I was working on getting the vanity in the cabinet style that Mrs. wanted. I was able to get the style they wanted and it was a bit more money and freight had not been quoted till they were ready to pull the trigger. I can not control that. The countertop material that they picked out was a remnant piece. From the time the ***'s entered our store till they actually pulled the trigger we had undergone a switch in the quartz company due to irregularities and defects in the companies material which we did not like or want to pass on to our consumers. The material was going to be unable to be got due to that. Cabinet Market, Mark, was able to make a few phone calls and get the quartz color the ***'s chose at a higher price. We did not pass that on to the consumer. They did specify a square sink upon initial consultation and I do apologize that somewhere in the templating process and fabrication that they ended up with a oval sink. They were present when the fabricators went to the home to template and measure the vanity top and did not indicate the square sink to them. If it was so important they needed to be proactive in the fabrication of the countertops and sink being used and should have told the fabricator himself when he was at the home. Cabinet Market told them that we apologize but could not readily remedy the situation but would look to see if we could find a square sink that maybe could work in a round hole. We also did tell them that we would refund the cost of the sink at $45.00 and $5.00 overpayment in the total amount of $50.00. It was a definite oversight on my part that they have not received the check yet as we were opening a new location. Cabinet Market will send the check out quickly to rectify the situation. A simple phone call to myself to inquire about the money to be refunded would have been easier than complaining to Revdex.com. As far as Mrs. having to wait for almost an hour it was her choice to wait as he was not readily available because he was on an appointment. In conclusion a check will be mailed in the amount of $50.00 and I expect that to be the end of this situation.

Kitchen not functional and poor design; unfinished baseboards; sink not functional; taxed on labor. Paid in full prior to work now won't honor work
Final notification to Mark Dobbs of Cabinet Market on May 7th, 2018 by e-mail the following: (1) April 17, 2018 came to his business location for a promised $35.00 refund for bathroom sink; Angel of his business rudely and with extreme profanity threw me off property and threatened me with police. (2) Cabinet door by microwave does not open. (3) Bottom cabinet door hits refrigerator and does not open. (4) 6" gap from kitchen counter to window. Poor design. (5) Wrong size cabinet above and beside refrigerator resulting in a big open square space good for nothing. He saw my refrigerator we had. Poor design. (6) Kitchen sink 2" to deep. Water does not drain. Per plumber need proper size sink. (7) Main living area: gaps between baseboard and flooring (8) Missing baseboard behind toilet in bathroom (9)Did not cut hole in bathroom vanity top.
Cabinet is for a regular sink but the sink installed is only good for a vessel sink which is high and must stand on a stool to use.
Mark D of Cabinet Market responded to the email by stating the installer would do a walk through and said to have someone in unit next morning. (I live 3 hours away) however, I contacted a person who would go there next morning at 11:00 to the unit. Then Mark D now can't go there the next morning and wants to do it earlier the following day. I knew he was playing games and did not actually intend on going to the unit.
Cabinet Market was paid in full on our deal prior to work being performed. Mark D later added another $488.00 to the original contract charging tax on labor.

Cabinet Market Daytona Response • Jun 12, 2018

The Kitchen was functional as it was checked previously on a walk through with owner.
The owner *** stated to design the kitchen as we had done others in the same complex with the very same layout, Owner *** did not want the cabinets and counters to go all the way to window as suggested until he saw at another residents unit and then wanted to change after completion.
The building had a poor design from originality that would have created the countertop to interfere with the window.
As for sink and Baseboards this would be 1st mention as again customer spent 2 days in unit doing his own paint work after we were done with flooring and baseboards. We did not cut a hole for vessel sink as we required the homeowner present for placement and homeowner or representative not available nor was sink present to do so as sinks are many different sizes and owners bath vanity was very small.
All doors and drawers were functional at time of install with no interference and at no time did we deny owner to make adjustments with a timely notice as we have scheduling of other work and the installers whom are independent are not available at drop of a hat unfortunately.
All cabinetry is to current code height and the bath vanity is to small to accommodate an undermount so the homeowner had no other option to use a vessel sink.
The kitchen sink is an "Undermount" sink to accommodate the quartz tops and the plumber did not set the correct fall from sink drain to discharge which was done by others.
The entire complex suffered from the previous hurricanes and the owner has had many trades in unit and claimed damages after they were done and blamed our company long after owner had made trips to property.
Owner blamed our company for a chip in tub but the general contractor had drywallers putting up cement board which was clearly dropped in tub, not damaged by Us, additionally had other workers in the property cutting tile and doing wall tile with tools left laying about the New flooring and up against baseboards.
As for the owners visit to our store, he was advised that Mr. D was not in office the entire day and made statements to the Lady working in store that "He will camp out until he arrives" and gave the most uncomfortable feeling to the Lady in store and she asked him to leave, when owner refused I was notified and advised her to ask jimmy again to leave and if would not to contact authorities as she felt threatened by ***.
We charged owner Tax and credit card fee, Labor was not taxed as he states. Owner signed for all goods and services without duress and was explained very thoroughly the process and what was to be done. Owner received all goods in New condition as agreed. All services were done in time frame agreed without delay.

Attached the copy of refund sent to *** as well.
Our Offer: The owner Must be present to do walk through and sign off.
We will Happily arrange the installer to correct and adjust doors as needed, caulk as needed and review the baseboards and make necessary repairs.
The owner was present and before work began we went over entire kitchen layout for over 30 minutes so there was no confusion in addition to flooring and baseboards.

Customer Response • Jun 14, 2018

(The consumer indicated he/she DID NOT accept the response from the business.)
Cabinet Market Mark D reply is full of lies and he does not intend to stand by his work or have any intention of fixing these problems because they can't be fixed. The kitchen would have to be replaced. Why would I let him in to look at the poor design and workmanship with the way he has lied and covered up from the beginning. We were told to meet with the installer on May 8th to go over the complaint and agreed to his short notice to do so and then when we agreed to meet he all of a sudden cannot do the time he requested and then he changes it. I'm sure that would keep going on and on. He never intended to meet and go over these problems. He can ask his installer about the poor design. I'm sure he knows. Regarding the visit to the store, did not say "I would camp out till he arrives" and the "lady" called Mark D and when she got off the phone with him she started cursing and screaming profanity and threatening me while there was another customer standing there. No "lady" talks like that. Threw the other customer and me out and locked the door. At no time was I a threat to her. Another lie. He is very dishonest, disrespectful to me as a customer who paid in full. He is toxic and only is playing a game to make it look like he is willing to fix anything. His first line about the kitchen being functional on a walk through cannot be true as you will see in the attachments.
The rest of this reply is directed to Revdex.com for their review of this complaint as follows:
(a) E-mail showing notification 3X about cabinet door not opening by microwave
(b) Pictures showing poor design (4 pictures)
(c) Picture of bathroom baseboard and corner of door in bathroom
(d) Unfinished baseboard
(e) Invoice from B-Mac Plumbing about why sink does not function or ever drain.
(f) Proof in emails he made bad design for vanity and never measured.
(g) Invoices (5 pages). He makes a deal and backs out of his deal and charges more money.
There is more proof about his lies and work but this is enough for anyone to understand what kind of person Mark D is. This is only a 400 square foot unit. He did not do anything right. I have a very small kitchen, why would I want 6" missing from the kitchen counter top? He needs to refund the full amount I paid. Prior complaint showed attachment from reputable business stating replacement cost.

I have lived in four different countries, been in the retail business all my life, never seen any business treat their customers as I was treated.

Thanks for your time in reviewing this matter.
