to date. In order to have a negotiable title, the state had to be paid to bring the tags up to current. When we found out, we contacted the customer.
In customer's statement to Volkswagen Customer Care: She stated: "Since it had been parked over a year I hadn't tagged it." Customer then goes on to state, "A week after the deal they called wanting money for the tag. I didn't send it."
As stated in the original agreement with the customer "IF ANY ADDITIONAL COSTS ARE INVOLVED TO PROVIDE A NEGOTIABLE TITLE TO THE TRADE-IN, I WILL PAY ALL COSTS DUE IMMEDIATELY." This was signed by customer at time of purchase.

If I had been made aware the a current title was necessary for a "parts car" I would have made that part of the negotiations. They had the car one week prior to our deal
and never mentioned this to me until one week after the deal.

State Law requires that tags be kept up to date. These were the customers responsibility. The money had to be paid, and it was the customer responsibility to do so.
