CABS Home Attendants Services, Inc Reviews (1)

Review: This firm was, and is now again providing home attendant service to my mother, [redacted]. However, they were unable to collect payment for services rendered from Medicaid. For this reason, they removed their home attendant from my mother's residence. My mother is an amputee, unable to take care of herself without assistance. Fortunately, I happened to be in town visiting, if my mother would have been in her apartment alone WITH NO ONE TO HELP HER. This company has been providing services to my mother for years, and know that she is more that eligible for Medicaid, and yet they LEFT my mother unattended from May [redacted], 2013.Desired Settlement: I would like to receive a call from the president of the company, so that he/she could explain to me how this was an appropriate act of his/her firm.

Response:

Review: [redacted] reported that his mother [redacted] is again being provided Home Attendant Services .Service was stopped and he had to take care of her himself since he was in town visiting.

Response: [redacted]'s Home Care was managed by Healthfirst who informed this Agency that Maximus rejected client's case as her Medicaid was inactive.Due to this ,they were unable to provide PCA services 24/7 any longer and that we would not be reimbursed by them if we continued to provide service.EPACES was checked and verified that client had no Medicaid and was not enrolled in an MLTC plan .This information was conveyed to [redacted] and his sister [redacted] This Agency did provide client with a safe discharge plan and [redacted] was advised by telephone on how to proceed, since, he was staying with his mother at her place of residence.A copy of the Intent to close was mailed to client,NYSDOH and client's medical provider.Service was suspended as of 05/**/13.On 05/**/13,the Agency reached out to CASA V1 office requesting that they they restart Home Care Service through HRA.The Case Worker contacted the Agency on 05/**/13 and a reopen request was posted on the LTCW.The Agency RN conducted an assessment on 05/**/13 and service was resumed on 05/**/13.

Please also note that [redacted] contacted the Agency everyday during the suspended service period, however he has still put the blame on us for his mother's service to be disrupted. He has complained to NYSDOH who contacted the Agency on this same matter and they were given the same response.

Response:

Please be informed that this Agency withdrew our personnel because we provide Personal Care Services based on our contractural agreement with New York City Human Resource Administration or a Manage Long Term Care Agency.

Seeing that neither was in place our final step was to safely discharge [redacted] in the Care of her daughter [redacted] on 05/**/13. Her son [redacted] who was staying at client's residence at that time, was also given advice, by myself on numerous occasions .

A list of Private Agencies was provided to [redacted] in our written Notice of Intent to cancel services.

This Agency tried to assist in getting [redacted]'s Home Care Service resumed,by reaching out to New York City Human Resource Administration by requesting that her services be reinstated .

Finally when NYCHRA reinstated [redacted]'s Home Care Services,CABS resumed Personal Care Service on 05/**/13.

Response:

I have reviewed the response made by the business in reference to complaint ID# [redacted], and have determined that my complaint has NOT been resolved because:

Yes, I was staying at my mom's resident, because I came in to surprise her for mother's day. The agency was fully aware, that I reside out of the state of New York, at no point did they mentioned that they were removing their personnel because I was staying there. I they did, then I would have stayed with another family member. Furthermore, they NEVER sent us a list of any other agencies, which would not have resolved the issue, because with the new agency we would have to start from the beginning which would prolong the time to get another home care attendant in mother's home. It is apparent that, this agency will never admit that they made the wrong call in this situation. When I made this claim I stated that I wanted to speak with the president since I was not able to speak with him/her when I called their office. I will handle this the next time I am in NYC.
