I did the walkway about 4 years ago, I did go over to the consumers house and explained that after the winter and the salt use there is no way to repair the salt damage. I did repair the best I could. I do keep receiving messages from the consumer.

A cement walkway was there previously for well...

over 30 years and this never happened.  "Winter" does not erode a walkway made of cement, nor does the use of salt unless the walkway was not sealed.  According to others in the field, the walkway was never sealed properly thus leading to erosion.  The pock marks were there within 2 years but I did not feel they were an issue until this past winter, due to the lack of seal and the horrendous winter we endured, yes the walkway did erode but it was due to the lack of sealer applied.  Additionally the cement applied to the walls going up the side of the house is all cracked and eroded, I doubt this had anything to do with winter or salt, more likely again the lack of sealer.If it had been sealed, I am not sure why the contractor would feel they needed to come back and seal again.  Not only did they seal it but the never patched any of the holes, thus sealing right over them.  This walkway is now a disgrace and it is unacceptable that the blame is placed on the homeowner.  I am still requesting reimbursement for all costs associated with the repair of this walkway which will need to be done prior to the fall.  The only way this can be made right is to have this work completed and unless the contractor wants to come back and correct the issues, it will have to be done by the homeowners.  I have included a zip file of the walkway so you can see how shoddy the work is for your reference.  If you cannot open the file, I will send the pictures in a separate upload.  Sincerely,[redacted] Family[redacted]
