Complaint: ***
I am rejecting this response because: The response only confirms a "he said, she said" scenario, and basically calls me a liar for my response. This does not address the fact that Cache Valley Pet Hotel is not enforcing "their" contractual agreement with the owner of the dog that bit my daughters dog on at least two occasions, including the time with the vet bill in question. All I'm asking is that they enforce that agreement and have the other owner pay the vet bill. As I stated in my previous response, we are willing to settle for half of the remaining unpaid bill, which is $105.00, regardless of who pays. Let's not waste our time in small claims court over this
Sincerely,

Apparently there was a misunderstanding. We did not offer to pay half the veterinary bill at the time of Jake's injury.

When Jake was injured in July 2016, no one saw the incident so we have no proof which dog bit Jake. Based on past history, Jake likes to jump over our indoor 4-foot fences. Some dogs will bite at dogs as they jump over fences. We don't have a full explanation for this; our best guess is that herding...

dogs have an instinct (from their breeding) to nip animals trying to go over fences, probably to keep sheep in enclosures. We don't believe it is a sign of aggression. Beezer (one of the other dogs that was at the Pet Hotel when Jake was bitten) is a herding breed and does show this tendency to bite at dogs going over fences. It is virtually impossible to separate him from fence-jumping dogs, because the fence-jumping dogs can jump into whatever area he happens to be in. When Jake was bitten, we told Beezer's owner about this and how we didn't see the incident to know if it was him or not. The owner graciously offered to pay half of Jake's vet bill even without proof it was Beezer that bit Jake. The owner paid $211.31 to the Pet Hotel which we passed on to Jake's owner. Jake's owner agreed to be responsible for veterinary charges when she signed the Boarding and Day Camp Agreement. We feel this is appropriate because the injury, while unfortunate, is a risk the owner accepted by having Jake stay at a cage-free facility. In addition, it appears that Jake's proclivity to jump the inside fences is what triggered the incident. We have modified the text in the “Fence Jumpers” section of the Additional Agreements to the Boarding and Day Camp Agreement to ensure that owners of fence-jumping dogs know that they have an enhanced risk of injury.Paul M[redacted]Owner, Cache Valley Pet Hotel and Day Camp
