a Vantage CS door style with carriage house hardwareWhen we went to the job the customer had a standard car garage door measuring 16' wide x 7' tallWe put the same dimension door as we removedThe real problem doesn't lie in the installation of the door or the dimension of the door it lies in the improper size the opening that was built at the time of construction years agoWe tried to fill the gap of the over sized opening by putting multiple layers of perimeter seal around the outside of the door, this did not satisfy the customerI suggested adding trimmer boards around the casing to bring the opening to a correct size then put a single layer of perimeter seal such as we do for applications, at no extra cost even though this is not a part of original job bidThen the customer wanted us to metal wrap thatI am sure if the customer were more knowledgeable of construction he would know we have went above and beyond our obligation to try to help himThe last time I talked to him I told him I would still be willing to do the modification even after he filed his complaint and he informed me he was looking for someone else to do the work but if he changed his mind he would let me knowI haven't heard anything from him sinceABC and I are done with this job and once again regret any unsatisfied customer but there are times when you just can't please everyoneABC has done approximately hundred jobs last yearIt is my opinion that if we did unsatisfactory or unfair deals there would be more complaintsThank you for your time
