Mr. B** is incorrect in stating that I quoted him a price of $1000 to $1500 for MEP drawings.  The fact is my services agreement (see attachment, B** signed svc agree.pdf) specifically EXCLUDES MEP drawings under my scope of work-  see paragraph 2(c)(i).  I told Mr. B** from the...

outset that, based on my experience, he would have to hire a licensed MEP engineer to prepare the MEP drawings.  He told me that the quotes he had received from MEP engineers were all too expensive and that he would like me to draft the MEP plans under his direction.  I agreed to do this but told him I would  bill him at my standard drafting rate of $80/hour for the MEP drawings, since it was outside the original scope of work (see attached email correspondence document, "MEP plans".)  At no point did I claim that the MEP drawings I prepared would be sufficient to get a building permit.  On the contrary, in my email to Mr. B** I state "we would still need a licensed MEP engineer to sign the MEP plans and state that the plans were prepared under his supervision." Nonetheless, Mr. B** chose to submit the MEP plans without the signature of an MEP engineer. Not surprisingly, the plans were rejected by the building department. Finally, I am attaching a copy of the invoice (see line 7) in which I billed Mr. B** $1200.00 for the MEP plans I prepared under his supervision.  If you subtract $1200.00 from the total bill of $3510.00, you'll see that I billed Mr. B** $2310.00 for services actually covered under our services agreement, which is less than the quoted price of $2400.00.In conclusion, I believe I am entitled to receive the full invoiced amount of $3510.00 from Mr. B**.Sincerely,B[redacted]CADbuilt Inc.
