Cadet recalled the FX heater years ago in cooperation with the CPSC. The recall, per the CPSC consent agreement, lasted for two years. The recall program was highly advertised and every effort was made to notice consumers. The recall
program called for replacement units to be sold at a cash-neutral price. Replacement units were not free. The recall ended in 2002.
The FX heater has not been manufactured for over years. Even had there not been a recall, these heaters are well past their useful life and should be replaced. The wall can and grill do not need to be replaced, only the heatbox assembly
