Cafe 201

Please find the receipt of cafe 201 in the attachment. Although I have shopped there for couple times, that's the only receipt I have. They usually don't give you the receipt until you ask for it.

list price as $3.69, I didn't tip because it was fast food and "to go". Then I calculated the difference of the charged amount $4.24 and the price $3.69 and got $0.55 as tax. Since sales tax rate in CA is only 8%, I immediately knew that they were charging me extra fee.
So I asked the cashier about it and she replied with a statement that they charge $0.25 for credit card usage and have been doing it for long time. And I have been visited their shop for 6 months and never heard anything like that. So I asked for any notice in the store to inform customers and she told me that they don't have any sign in the store disclosing this policy. When I tried to ask for more information, the cashier just ignored me and talked to other customers.
Furthermore, after studying the law in California, I found out that any merchant cannot charge extra fee for credit card usage unless the merchant gets approval from the government.  I felt obligated to report their malpractice to your Bureau and protect the rights of customers, most of whom are my colleagues at work.
