Review: Improper billing practices for auto loan.

I currently have an active auto loan account with CAHP Credit Union. I was informed by CAHP Teller Operators I have a "30 day grace period" to make my car payment when it's past the due date in order to prevent from being reported to the three major credit bureaus. However, on two separate occasions I made payments past my due car payment deadline, however, the payment was made within the 30 day grace period. It turns out, CAHP does not honor the 30 day grace period as stated. Instead, they deceive customers by making them believe there is a 30 day window because in reality they honor the payment whenever the payment is posted to their account.

In my case, I made a car payment using a non CAHP banking institution. Both times, payments were made approximately on the 29th and 30th grace day. CAHP easily deducted the funds from my personal banking account the day I made the payment. However, I later learned CAHP reported my payment as late and further reported the late payment to the three major credit bureaus. The claimed the payment was over the 30 day grace window.

I've tried to correct this problem on several occasions by calling and explaining my case with more than one banking teller. They've informed me CAHP's "system" takes 48 to sometimes 96 hours to post incoming payments from other banking institutions.

This is adversely affecting my credit score as I am attempting to purchase a home at the moment. I've been extremely patient and have patiently asked CAHP to honor my payments since both payment were made and deducted from my personal bank account well within the 30 day grace period offered. CAHP has told me more than once they would not honor my payment and will not correct the credit reporting because their "system" takes several days to receive payments from non CAHP banking institutions.

CAHP is clearly deceiving their customers by not clarifying the 30 grace period properly. They need to be clear what "30 day grace period" means. It should be more like a 26 day grace period because their slow system post payments days after the fact yet CAHP is quick to deduct funds from one's checking account.

Desired Settlement: I would like to have CAHP recall all late reporting from all three major credit bureaus.

Review: I was placed on the credit bureaus for being 30 days past due on my May 2015 car loan payment, but the payment was not 30 days late. The car loan payment was paid on Tuesday, May 26, 2015 by check by phone. CAHP held the check for 5 days and did not process it until Monday, June 1, 2015 which made it 30 days past due. I also made a additional car loan payment on Saturday, May 30, 2015 over the phone with my [redacted] debit card. I was never told that it takes 5 days to process a check by phone payment. CAHP credit union stated they informed my wife it could take up to 5 days to process, but my wife is not on my car loan. They should have informed me about the length of time it takes to process. The two payments were made in the month of May before June 1, 2015. I should not be held responsible for the credit union taking 5 days to process the payment especially if I was never informed verbally or in writing about the processing time.Desired Settlement: I would like CAHP credit union to contact the 3 credit bureaus and remove the 30 day late mark on my credit reports.
