Cain Dental Office, SC

It is very rare that I would take the time to write a complaint about a business but I feel strongly that others should be aware of the unfair practices of this particular business. I missed an appointment for my son due to a snow storm back in February 2013. I called very early the morning of the appointment as soon as I knew then it was unsafe to travel 40 minutes to the dentist office. We live out of town. I left a message on their voice mail as they were not yet opened and wanted to give as much notice as I possibly could. When I called back to reschedule the appointment I was told in a very rude and matter of fact manner that my son could no longer come to their office for services due to a missed appointment. Even after a lengthly explanation of the weather related reason for missing and the fact that I called many hours before the appointment I was told in a rather cold manner that it is their policy to drop an "out of town" client if an appointment is missed for any reason. I have to admit I was a bit taken a back but not completely suprised as their office staff has always been cold and unprofessional but because we are on Badgercare we had little choice but to see this dentist. When I asked if they were members of the BB the office woman relied with a chuckle, "yes we are." However it looks to me that they are not accredited members at all. This tells me something about them as well.

I also want to let any future customer be aware of another uncomfortable policy we encountered while under their care. Both of my very young children (5 and 6) were seeing a dentist for check ups for the very first time and were naturally nervous and scared. I was told by office staff that under no circumstances were I or their Father allowed back in the room with them while being seen. I never even met with or seen the actual dentist and when I questioned this and wanted to comfort my children in the back I was firmly told it is their policy that parents are not allowed to do so. I found that to be uncomfortable to say the least but accepted it as it is hard to find a dentist under our current insurance. I comforted my children as best I could and sent them back with a stranger. I am ashamed to admit that truthfully but felt they boys needed dental care and let that out weigh my concerns. This office was at the very least unprofessional, cold and uncaring toward us. I can only guess they treat everyone the same way or possibly just people that don't have the best dental insurance. Not sure but either way we feel they are to be avoided if at all possible.

Was very mean and belittling. Should not be accepting badgercare if not treating people nice.
