Cakes for Occasions

Thank you for informing me of this complaintI wouldlike to take this opportunity to respond to her points regarding her futuredaughter-in-laws bridal shower cake.*** is disappointed in the height of the bottom tier of the cake she received.She has repeated numerous times in the above complaint
that we have "falseadvertising"This is something I do not take lightly and I would like todefendWe are a custom design cake shop that creates "custom cakes"for each client*** is correct in the fact that we do have many differentsize dummy/display cakes on our retail floor to show the variety and artisticcreations that our staff can createHowever, depending on the style, look,complexity and structure of each custom cake, every cake size and height mayvary depending on what the client wants the cake to look likeMy staff informscustomers of the 'size' of the cake that they order (IE 12" or 14", etc)and informs the client that each cake is roughly 4" tall(we stressroughly because the cakes are baked, cut and filled by hand- we do not havethem done by machine)As you can see from the attached image of ***'s cake,the bottom tier is roughly 4" tall and then the dress is made up of 2cakes to give it the proper height and proportion that is necessary to createsuch a style and structure of the dressThe bodice of the dress was thencreated out of rice crispy and fondant for 'structure' and stability.It is important for us to think about how a cake of such complexity and levelof detail will be created AS WELL AS how it will travelWith each customorder, we need to figure out the structure of the cake so it will withstandtravel (either by us or by the customer)We created her cake exactly as sheordered it and she was informed of the size of the cakeShe may have expectedit to be higher but we never said it would be higher.In regards to the point where she refers to us as "not fixing her cake butwe fixed her friends cake that she knew about"I don't know the detailsof that clients cake and we very well could have fixed her friends cakeIt alldepends on if a cake can be fixed***'s cake is not a cake you see everydayNor is it a cake that is simple in style, look, complexity and structure.In ***'s case, you just can't fix it without changing the whole size &structureThe cake she ordered had two important factors: 1) what do you want the cake to look like?2) how many people do you want it to feed?With the answers that *** gave us, we created a cake that looked exactly asshe ordered and fed the correct amount of guests at her daughter-in-laws bridalshowerI do not know what her friends cake wasYou can not compare cake to cakewith what we doAnd lastly, in regards to the car accident, *** is correctIwas not in or able to respond to her because the accident was serious,however ***, my General Manager, did reach out to her but *** refused tospeak to anyone but meAs soon as I returned to work and was ableto contact her, I did just so.Based on our conversation with ***, we believe the final productreflected what she ordered. I'm sorry that she was not satisfiedwith what we createdWe believe we captured what she envisioned
