Below is my response to Mr. Cheeseman's. Please find enclosed, the receipt for payment to Keith Cheeseman's Sunoco. The response from Cheeseman's Sunoco on this matter was very disappointing. Regarding the steering wheel, I highly doubt that they would have replaced it if they felt it weren't damaged by them or that the damage was negligible. I was quite happy with the steering wheel before they tore out the dash board to put in the A/C blower motor unit, but upon picking up the car, I discovered the damaged wheel and immediately pointed it out to them. I categorically deny causing the air bag indicator light to appear or placing black tape or anything over the air bag indicator light on the dash board obstructing its view. That light only appeared after the steering wheel was replaced by them. I had to ask one of the service techs what the flashing light was and he told me an air bag indicator light. After being accused of trying to scam them and deliberately creating the problems myself, I was in disbelief: 1. I had no reason to get a new steering wheel before it was damaged by them and 2. I had no idea how to make an air bag indicator light appear on the dash board and I still don't. After paying them over $800 for their services and finding my air bag indicator light on following the steering wheel replacement, I am now stuck with finding out why the light is on and what damage has been done to the air bag system. I called Nissan North and they told me it would be over a hundred dollars just to look at it and then costs would rise from there dependent upon what had to be done to resolve the problem. In retrospect, I now wish I would have read the March 26, 2015 negative online [redacted] review regarding this business before taking my auto into their station for major repairs. If I had done so, red flags would have gone up and I would not now be stuck with paying for problems created by someone else.
Mr. [redacted] seems to be a very nice guy, we had some work on his Nissan Sentra to replace, it was the blower motor and resister. We had to pull the dash to retrieve the blower motor and laid steering wheel on driver seat. We put it all back together to factory...
standards and it worked great. Mr. [redacted] pick the car up and said we put three scuffs less than a half inch on the steering wheel. As I walked out to look I knew by looking at the steering wheel that the scuffs had been there. I could tell they had been there previous to him coming to the shop due to the different shades of color where he holds his hands when driving. I never second guessed him and said fine I will order a new steering wheel. A couple of weeks went by and he brought his car in and we replaced the old steering wheel with the new one. He also made a comment stating that we put a cheap aftermarket steering wheel into his vehicle. The steering wheel we purchased to replace the one he said was scratched was a factory OEM steering wheel from the dealer. Each time he brought the vehicle in there was a large piece of black tape covering his check engine light and air bag light. After replace the old steering wheeling wheel he was unhappy with and replacing it with the new one, we pulled the vehicle around gave it to him. Within minutes of him leaving and driving down the street he comes back and says the air bag light was on, I pulled the car back in and noticed immediately that he had removed the black tape that was covering his air bag and check engine light. Initially when Mr. [redacted] brought his car into the shop and we decided to put a new steering wheel into the car I addressed the black tape that was in the dash with him and asked him why he had put it there. He told me that he put it there because he was sick of looking at the check engine light and other service lights that were on the dash. Immediately after noticing he had removed the black tape that was covering the service lights on the dash after the new steering wheel was put in and he came back I asked him why did you remove the tape after we put the new steering wheel in and he left. He then proceeded to tell me that he wanted me to see what we were doing which makes no sense at all, when I initially addressed the tape with him before we ever serviced the vehicle. When servicing the vehicle initially we scanned it and the computer had a memory code for the air bag module which had been in the vehicle for a while. The air bag module isn't located in the steering wheel and we only serviced the steering wheel. I also explained to him there are a lot of service bulletins going on at the moment with these air bags and that he should take it into the dealer. He insisted that I pay for it and I told him no. He still had the black tape on his hand from where he had removed it from the dash of the vehicle after he left. I told him to put it back on the dash like he had it before so he wouldn't be able to see the lights. I then explained to him that I felt like he was trying to scam me because he thought if I replaced the steering wheel it would come with an air bag but it doesn't. He got mad and I told him that I was sorry but I cant do anything else for you and sorry for the inconvenience and I recommend taking it to the dealer due to the service bulletins currently going on.
