Revdex.com:
I have reviewed the response made by the business in reference to complaint ID [redacted], and have determined that this does not resolve my complaint.  For your reference, details of the offer I reviewed appear below.
Ron Calfo’s letter to the Western Pennsylvania RevDex.com (ID [redacted]) requests that Calfo Red Lines’ RevDex.com rating should be raised from “F.”
I disagree for the following reasons:My inventory was recorded incorrectly when my
possessions went into storage at Calfo in 2009.
[redacted] Van Lines will confirm this. During the six years my goods were in storage, 4
large paintings and all my pots and pans were lost. Many items that did arrive
were smashed. Thanks to the persistent efforts of [redacted] at the
Pennsylvania Public Utilities Commission, one painting has been retrieved.
Where are the rest of my lost goods? Besides the $13,000+ in moving and storage fees
I paid over six years, Calfo tried to extract additional money from me in 2013
when my goods were in storage. My lawyer at Cohen and Grigsby will confirm
this. Here are the details: It is true that I personally checked as my goods were loaded
on the [redacted] truck at the Calfo warehouse on April 29, 2015 and it is absolutely
untrue that “everything matched the day of the move.”  What I saw, as I watched the boxes get loaded
on the truck, is that there were 13 more boxes than were indicated on the Calfo
inventory list. Six years ago, when my goods went into storage, Calfo neglected
to put numbers on all the boxes and record them on the inventory list. So, when
the boxes came out of storage, we found unnumbered extra boxes. I made a
handwritten list of these boxes as they went on the truck and I still have
it.  [redacted] Van Lines who moved me to
Chicago, re-counted all the boxes later and they confirmed the discrepancy.
What I didn’t know was that there were even more
unnumbered extra boxes: the ones with my lost paintings and pots and pans. I
didn’t realize this until I unpacked in Chicago. I would be pleased to give you the contact information for Jim
Mesmer at [redacted] Van Lines. He will confirm that the Calfo inventory list
and the number of boxes on the [redacted] truck did not tally. When I found that 4 large paintings and all my pots and pans
were missing and many of my delivered goods were broken, first I tried
unsuccessfully to reach Ron Calfo and his son, Nick, by phone, text and email.
Then I filed complaints with the Western Pennsylvania Revdex.com
and also with the Pennsylvania Public Utilities Commission. [redacted],
Chief, Motor Carrier Enforcement, Bureau of Investigation & Enforcement,
PUC, very kindly took up my case. From July 6 to August 8, he repeatedly called
Ron Calfo about my lost goods He said to get Ron to answer his calls and to
take action was like “pulling teeth.”  On
August 8, [redacted] let me know that Calfo found one painting. I am in
Pittsburgh frequently for business. I picked it up right away at the Calfo
offices. The rest of the paintings and all my pots and pans remain missing. Surely
if one painting was found, doesn’t it make sense that the others are around
somewhere?
For more details about [redacted]’ discussions with Ron
Calfo, you can contact him directly. I have his information.
In my previous complaint, I refrained from bringing up one
additional grievance because I wanted to focus on recovering my lost items. In
March 2013 when I was in Shanghai, I received a letter from Calfo Red Line
requesting payment of about $1500 in additional storage charges. My storage payments
were not in arrears. When I called Ron Calfo to ask about the letter, he could
not tell me why I owed this money but he said that if I did not pay it, all my
possessions would be auctioned off the following week. I immediately called my
lawyer, [redacted], at [redacted]. He found out that Calfo claimed
that I did not pay the storage fee of $150 for the very first month my goods
went into storage in February 2009 so I owed penalties and interest. I disagreed
but, rather than fight, [redacted] negotiated a settlement. There is nothing that
makes one feel more helpless than to be in Shanghai, China and have one’s
possessions in Pittsburgh held hostage for money.
I would be pleased to give you [redacted]’s contact
information so you can ask about his negotiations with Calfo Red Line in 2013. Please let me know if you have any questions about any of this. My cell number is below. Thank you very much for your time and attention to this.
Kindest regards,
[redacted]

Review: Calfo Red Line Transfer did a move of my furniture from the home I was moving from into their storage facility on 7/27/15 and then moved my furniture from their storage facility to my new home on 11/19/15. When delivering my items they broke 1 of my dining room chairs and also my exercise bike. Was told they would send me a claim form for these items. They also forgot my Curio and had to leave and come back later. My delivery was in the morning and they didn't come back with the curio until late afternoon. So I couldn't leave the house because I was waiting on them to come back. I was told there was a 4 hour minimum charge for the move, plus travel time. My estimate was for 5 hours for the move. I feel they overcharged me an hour for each move. When they delivered my furniture it only took them an hour at my house. So that left them with 3 additional hours to get the furniture loaded from storage. I received a claim form along with a letter regarding my damaged items and returned this to them Dec 5, 2015. I've attempted to follow up several times by email & with letters regarding the claim and have received no reply from them.Desired Settlement: I would like the amount I submitted for my claim for damages to be paid in the amount of $336.00 and also a refund of the 2 hours (1 Hr each way for my move) that I feel they overcharged me for 2 hours @ $130/hr = $260.00

Total amount of Refund being requested: $596.00

Review: I hired Calfo to move my household goods on June 30 (possibly the 29th), 2013. In the course of moving it ran a piece of furntiture into the front door frame of the house I was leaving, damaging it. I have filed a claim with them. I have heard nothing from them, and have not returned any of my several phone calls asking about the status of the claim.Desired Settlement: I want to be reimbursed for the damage to the door frame.

Review: In 2009, I moved to Shanghai, China from Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania on an expatriate assignment with my company. On January 28, 2009, my goods were moved into storage with Calfo Red Line Moving and Storage. During my 6 years in China, I paid the company over $13,000 in moving and monthly storage fees.

When I was in Asia, I travelled all around the region and back and forth to the United States so my suitcases took a real beating but my boxes in storage at Calfo looked much worse after 6 years. When my goods came out of storage this year, many items were crushed and broken. Glass artwork, a glass lampshade, picture glass, a lamp, kitchen items and many other goods were smashed up and had to be thrown away. 4- 5 large boxes were missing including all my pots and pans and 3 large paintings.

I hired [redacted] Van Lines to transport my goods to my new location. On April 28, 2015 I watched my goods come out of storage from the Calfo warehouse in Pittsburgh and go on the [redacted] truck. I kept track of the boxes and ticked them off against the inventory list. Over 25 boxes did not have inventory numbers. When I asked why, I found out Calfo never labeled them with inventory numbers six years ago. Because the inventory list was not complete when my goods went into storage in 2009, it was impossible to tell whether my goods were all there when they came out of storage in 2015. I didn’t realize goods were missing until I unpacked later in Chicago.

When I discovered the missing boxes, I phoned and emailed [redacted], owner of Calfo Red Line Storage numerous times to ask whether he could look in the warehouse for the goods. Either there was no answer or [redacted] sister, who is the office bookkeeper, took messages which no one ever returned.

Even [redacted] Van Lines offered to help me as part of its customer service. My [redacted] driver phoned Calfo numerous times to discuss the situation with [redacted]. [redacted] never replied to him either.

As a last resort, I texted [redacted], [redacted]’s son, on June 16 about my missing boxes. He replied immediately: “I'm really sorry about that…When I get in the office tomorrow I will have all of my guys looking for it….Sorry again I'll look and have my crew look.”

But I never heard from him ever again. He never answered any other inquiries. As of right now, I have never had a conversation with anyone at Calfo about my missing boxes, not to mention all the smashed items.Desired Settlement: 1) Calfo engage with me in a discussion about the whereabouts of my pots and pans, 3 large paintings and some smaller framed prints and posters.

2) In the event these items are destroyed or lost, Calfo work with me to file a claim with its insurance company.

Review: We hired Calfo Red Line Transfer Inc to move us out of one storage unit into another. We were told they would come with a 24' truck between the hours of 11am and 2pm on June 30th. They did not arrive until 6pm, and their 24' truck was a third of the way full with pianos. Due to the pianos being in the truck they were not able to complete the job we hired them to do. They were to load up our first unit for 2-3 hours (until at least 8pm) and take that to the new storage unit. They stopped loading at 7pm, because their truck was full. If they had brought an empty truck as indicated to us when we hired them, they would have been able to put most if not all the items left behind in their truck. This would have moved us from our storage unit on the date we needed to be out of it by. Now we are stuck paying for an extra month, because they cannot come back to finish the job and we have no other way to move it. I have been calling them, and when I talk to [redacted] I get the run around. I'm told [redacted] will call, but he does not return my phone calls.Desired Settlement: We would like the job to be finished on or before Thursday July 3rd. We will pay the hourly rate for the additional hours, but do not feel we should pay an additional hour travel time since this could have and should have been done on Monday.

Response:

In response to the complaint that is listed as 8/5/2014 on the Revdex.com website (ID unknown) against CalfoRed Line Transfer about a storage move; we were hired to move storage units and that day we also hadpiano moves as well. We arrived with a few pianos already on our 26" truck and proceeded to load thetruck with the storage units' contents which did contain many more large items than what the customerhad previously said. We loaded and moved everything we could fit at the time. Unfortunately, two tripswere needed because everything did not fit the first time, I apologized for the inconvenience, but therewas not much I could do to change the situation. The customer's items made it to where they needed tobe in the end, it just took two trips instead of one.

Consumer

Response:

We hired the moving company to move the contents of the storage unit we had filled with furniture from our 4 bedroom home. We had indicated this to whomever we spoke to when hiring them. We were also given a time they would be at our storage unit to move it. We sat there at the unit for hours with our young daughter waiting for them. We understand they had a job take longer than expected before us, but we did disclose what was to be moved.
