By far the most unprofessional company (of all companies) that I have had to deal with in Calgary It all started last year when the transmission of my manual drive Jeep Patriot failed on me and needed replacingSince Chrysler was going to charge me an arm and a leg for a new transmission, I decided to take it to Calgary Transmission as their prices were the lowest in the cityI called and was quoted roughly 2500$ for a rebuild transmissionThere was talk of maybe replacing the clutch as well at that timeI bring the Jeep in, they have a look at it, and quote me 3500$It was more than I hoped but that was about the maximum I was ready to payWhen I finally go to pick up the jeep, I get a bill of roughly 5600$I was obviously quite surprised as no one from the company called me about this and was simply told to pay the bill using two credit cards or to call my bank to increase the credit limit on my cardsI then went into my jeep and it stunk of cigarettes (I don't smoke) which is odd as there's a large "no smoking" sign at the front desk of this company and a packet of candy that I share with my year old son had disappearedHis reaction to my then "stinky jeep" wasn't exactly something you'd want to brag about Fast forward almost a year and once again the transmission in my jeep is acting upI take it to chrysler and after about an hour or so, they tell me that maybe a bearing needs changing within the transmissionSince I have a one year warranty with Calgary Transmission, I reluctantly brought the Jeep to them so that they could do the warranty workThey told me "they'll have a look tomorrow and give me a call"After a few days of no news and me actually calling them, they came to the same conclusion as the chrysler mechanic and then mentioned something about T-Case as well but again, they were going to give me a call about itAfter a week or so, and again, after I called them, they notified me that they needed to order a part and that it shouldn't take too much time to get itA week later...they "fix" the transmission but wanted to fix the t-caseThankfully, Bill told me that this work was going to cost a "pretty penny" which caught me off guard as I was under the impression that the company was only doing warranty workThere was never any quote, nor discussion about me paying anything or doing anything extra beyond the warranty workSo I was allowed to pick up the jeep the day after (weeks after I originally gave it to them) At pick up, I was not charged a penny for any "extra work" that may or may not have been doneI was able to take my jeep and drive awayWhen driving it though, it did of course smell of cigarette smoke againIt actually drove worse than what I brought it in forFor instance, the gears would slip and the clutch would grind through useYes, at first, I thought it was me grinding the clutch, not using it properly, but with the clutch pedal fully depressed, when changing from 2nd to 3rd or 3rd to 4th - it grindedOddly, when I parked my vehicle, left it in neutral and turned it off, it would slip back into gear So it's been weeks "work" for what seems like no work at allTo be fair to Bill, he is a very nice guy and has always been polite to me but the level of unprofessionalism is unprecedentedI have never experienced anything of the sort

By far the most unprofessional company (of all companies) that I have had to deal with in Calgary.
It all started last year when the transmission of my manual drive 2010 Jeep Patriot failed on me and needed replacing. Since Chrysler was going to charge me an arm and a leg for a new transmission, I decided to take it to Calgary Transmission as their prices were the lowest in the city. I called and was quoted roughly 2500$ for a rebuild transmission. There was talk of maybe replacing the clutch as well at that time. I bring the Jeep in, they have a look at it, and quote me 3500$. It was more than I hoped but that was about the maximum I was ready to pay. When I finally go to pick up the jeep, I get a bill of roughly 5600$. I was obviously quite surprised as no one from the company called me about this and was simply told to pay the bill using two credit cards or to call my bank to increase the credit limit on my cards. I then went into my jeep and it stunk of cigarettes (I don't smoke) which is odd as there's a large "no smoking" sign at the front desk of this company and a packet of candy that I share with my 4 year old son had disappeared. His reaction to my then "stinky jeep" wasn't exactly something you'd want to brag about.
Fast forward almost a year and once again the transmission in my jeep is acting up. I take it to chrysler and after about an hour or so, they tell me that maybe a bearing needs changing within the transmission. Since I have a one year warranty with Calgary Transmission, I reluctantly brought the Jeep to them so that they could do the warranty work. They told me "they'll have a look tomorrow and give me a call".... After a few days of no news and me actually calling them, they came to the same conclusion as the chrysler mechanic and then mentioned something about T-Case as well but again, they were going to give me a call about it... After a week or so, and again, after I called them, they notified me that they needed to order a part and that it shouldn't take too much time to get it. A week later...they "fix" the transmission but wanted to fix the t-case. Thankfully, Bill told me that this work was going to cost a "pretty penny" which caught me off guard as I was under the impression that the company was only doing warranty work. There was never any quote, nor discussion about me paying anything or doing anything extra beyond the warranty work. So I was allowed to pick up the jeep the day after (3 weeks after I originally gave it to them).
At pick up, I was not charged a penny for any "extra work" that may or may not have been done. I was able to take my jeep and drive away. When driving it though, it did of course smell of cigarette smoke again. It actually drove worse than what I brought it in for. For instance, the gears would slip and the clutch would grind through normal use. Yes, at first, I thought it was me grinding the clutch, not using it properly, but with the clutch pedal fully depressed, when changing from 2nd to 3rd or 3rd to 4th - it grinded. Oddly, when I parked my vehicle, left it in neutral and turned it off, it would slip back into gear.
So it's been 3 weeks "work" for what seems like no work at all. To be fair to Bill, he is a very nice guy and has always been polite to me but the level of unprofessionalism is unprecedented. I have never experienced anything of the sort.
