Revdex.com: I have reviewed the response made by the business in reference to complaint ID [redacted] , and have determined that this does not resolve my complaint For your reference, details of the offer I reviewed appear below This person speaking for Calhoun Funeral Home, is dishonest and very confusedShe is very unprofessional, and instead of apologizing, and offering a solution, she instead is trying to forge a wedge between family members with her statements Regards, [redacted]

On Sunday March 29, 2015, we received a death call from the family of *** *** *** approximately 8:06pmwho stated they wanted to entrust their loved one into our careMs*** stated that she was waiting for a few more family members and that she would call when the family was ready
for her to be picked upHowever the *** Hospital called asking for a (ETA) estimated time of arrival, I stated to the Nurse the family had just stated they were waiting for a few more family members to arrive. On March 30th the family received a call from myself Linda DW*** to set up an appointment to come into the office to make arrangementsJ*** *** the sister to Ms*** came in for the appointment, Ms*** stated that the family had no funds, however most of the family was not in agreement for cremationMs*** stated the Son was coming from out of state and no decision was to be made prior to his arrivalMs*** also made me aware that she was the one who had been paying on Ms***’s life-Insurance policy.Ms*** came into the office without the other family members to explain that the family was split with the decision to cremate or ship Ms*** back to New York, however none of the family members had the resources and that they were unsure if she had a policy or notMs*** further discussed that she had been the primary person in her sister's life taking care of her, and now the others want to come in and have a sayWhen our Insurance specialist looked into the policy, Ms*** was not the beneficiary, Ms*** was upset that she was not the beneficiary.Ms*** wanted to know if she was the one paying the premiums each month how could she not he the beneficiary and how could she get her money back that she had paid into the policy, I explained to Ms*** that she would have to contact the insurance company that is not a question that the funeral home could answer, Ms*** was very upset and went on to reassure me that the family had no moneyMs*** stated at this point that she did not want any part of paying for the funeral because her children had not came to see about her.Ms*** assured me that they had no funds and that Ms*** would end up having to be cremated, I allowed Ms*** to vent letting her know that if one person did not agree with the cremation we could not proceed until everyone was in agreement as to the disposition of Ms***Another appointment was set for Tuesday March 31, 2015, per family wishes to come in and discuss their optionsWhen the family came in they were still indecisive as to what would be the method of disposition for the second dayPer the conversation with Ms***, the family was to come back at Noon the same day, stay from noon to 5:30pm, the Funeral Home closes at 6:pm that would give them more than enough time to spend with Ms***, Ms*** again assured me that they had no money for which the family desired to send her body back to New York and have a funeral.Noon time came and went no family, 2:00pm was soon approaching I called back to Ms*** to inquire as to what was going on, N*** *** the daughter per Ms*** along with other family members was waiting for others to comeI again explained to Ms*** that Calhoun Funeral Home usually allows ten family members to spend to minutes with their love one prior to cremationI asked at this point what time did she think that they would arrive at the Funeral HomeMs*** was also unsure, she stated that she was on her way, when she arrived it was closer to the 4:hour shortly thereafter other members of the family arrivedMs***'s body was set up in one of our chapels with her hair combed and a gown placed on her, to give her dignity. At 5:30pm, l went into the chapel offered prayer to the family, which most of the family had went outsideI now know her as the Granddaughter *** *** who was very distraught apologizing to her Grandmother for not being able to bury her as for her wishes, three of ***’s friends tried to console her to no availlt was now after 6:00pm, so l went back into the chapel and asked again did she want prayer? Still no answer, again I left out of the chapel went outside to ask if any of the family members could come in and assist me with Ms*** who refused to leave her Grandmother side. A response came back good luck with that, that was her buddy, returning inside I notice Ms*** and her three friends going into the restroom at which time I felt it might take five minutes, it was now 6:45pm I went into the restroom, Ms***'s friend responded she will be out she had an accident, l responded by let me see if we have any female products hereBy that time someone was coming from outside with a bagMs*** stated that she was embarrassed and did not want to go outside, I suggested that she take her jacket and tie it around her waist and go directly to her car and no one would know what was going on now 7:00pm.Ms*** asked me not to cremate her Grandmother just yet let her see if she can come up with the money, asking how much would it cost? at that time I explained to her that I would need to get all the information what city would she go too, what Funeral Home would receive her? She said she would let me know the next day, which would be Wednesday April 1, 2015, I explained to her that Wednesday's are my scheduled off dayHowever call leave the information and the funeral home would get in touch with me and l would make it happen if that's what the family agreed to also reassuring her that the cremation would not take place until I had an agreement with the rest of the family.Several times I called back to both Ms*** as well as Ms*** ***, leaving messages as to what was I to do cremate or ship to New Yorkfinally Ms*** returned the call stating you all have not cremated her yet, I explained to *** due to family some saying cremate others saying ship, by law I cannot cremateMs*** stated to go ahead and cremate and ship her the cremains. When I called Ms*** to inform her as to where we were with Ms*** cremation the phone was disconnected, I reached out to Ms*** to let her know that I was unable to reach Ms*** to let her know that the cremains had indeed been shipped along with her letting me know when they arrivedMs*** state that she was unaware of the phone being disconnected but she would call me backWhen Ms*** called me back to let me know Ms*** had indeed received the cremains. _
