Caliber Collision Reviews (%countItem)

On 3/1/19 I was the middle car of a three car accident on the highway. It was not my fault. Per my insurance, *** I sent my car to Caliber Collision. When I arrived I told my insurance and Caliber Collision that while the majority of the damage was in the back I wanted them to check the front and engine. I got my car back on 4/2/19. Not 12 hours later I was driving on the highway and my engine failed and exploded. When I called Caliber, they said "That's weird, we didn't even look at the front". I said "that's concerning since I asked you to". After dropping my car off they said it was NOT impact related and sent it to a *** dealership. *** and Caliber are saying it's negligence on my part for a lack of oil change. I added oil to my car 90 days before the accident. My check engine never came on and it is a 2015, new car. When I pulled over due the failed engine it was leaking oil. That is why there is no oil in my car. I am now being told that it will cost me $7K+ for a used engine and $10K+ for a new factory engine. I want Caliber Collision to pay for a new engine. I didn't choose their location, I was recommended to them by my insurance. If I knew that they wouldn't look at the front of my car, even though I requested it, I would have gone somewhere else. I am lucky not be injured since my engine failed in morning traffic on a busy highway. I want a full reimbursement for this engine, new not used as my car is new not used. I am currently without a car when I commute 50 minutes one way. This is unacceptable.

Caliber Collision Response • May 10, 2019

There is no valid complaint against Caliber Collision Greenwood Village from ***.
Caliber Collision is truly sorry that your engine failed after repairs to the rear end of your 2015 *** Tucson. *** walked the vehicle with a representative from Caliber Collision. Caliber Collision did inspect the front of the vehicle and no damage was found. When the vehicle was checked in we noted the area around the license bracket for inspection because there was no visible damage to the front. *** picked up her vehicle on 4/2/2019 around 3pm.
*** had her vehicle towed to Caliber Collision with *** Roadside assistance on 4/3/2019.
We inspected ***’s vehicle upon arrival, and found no evidence of impact to the oil pan or the motor. There were some metal shards in the plastic engine shield.
*** towed the vehicle to a dealership for inspection. *** denied the warranty claim due to lack of records for engine oil maintenance. The metal shards were most likely from the starter, as it had disintegrated once the engine had seized.
*** Insurance inspected the vehicle. Due to the lack of impact damage, the motor being part of the claim was denied by the insurance.

And an FYI for shop records in case customer ever tried to come back to Caliber; we denied the engine failure as it had no oil in it. Appears it threw a rod…
I spoke with Keith ***, the service manager of ***. ***, the *** adjuster, the *** technician, and himself all stood together and inspected the motor of her vehicle. Due to the fact that there was no oil, and they did not find a hole in the block, the warranty claim was denied. Lindsay was asked to produce some sort of receipt for any oil change, and she could not produce one oil change receipt. She stated that she did them at a friend’s. Because there was no oil, both the insurance and the dealer denied the motor claim. Keith did confirm that there was no hole in the block, and that the motor failed due to the lack of oil.

My vehicle was involved in a hit and run, my insurance company *** gave me a list of shops they're in business with. I choose Caliber Collision at 10600 e exposition Ave. My vehicle arrived May 31,2018. As of June 8,2018 I was informed that my vehicle would be a total loss and notified the staff and my claims adjuster that I'D come in to retrieve the rest of my items from out of the vehicle. I arrived June 14,2018 at about 10A.M to find that my two 12inch sub woofers were missing as well as my amplifier which was mounted to my back seat and would have needed a drill to be removed. Tony S the manager at the shop immediately began to say in so many words that it was a random person that stole my items when clearly my vehicle was in their possession and also they're the only ones that were aware of what was in my vehicle. Tony S also vouched for having seeing my items at the time the vehicle arrived. Tony mentioned Sean took my vehicle apart on June 8,2018. Tony would not give me his last name. Tony gave me an email address to a guy named Jamie Frost and said he would reach out within a couple of days. I left the facility so upset the then returned about 30mins later to take pictures when I arrived Jamie Frost was there with Tony S and they were discussing the situation clearly. Jamie Frost could've spoke with me then but instead he went inside and notified Tony to tell me he had to rush to a meeting. Considering being in a hit and run while my vehicle was parked, now my new car being considered as a total loss, and I haven't even made my first car payment nor had plates on the vehicle yet. But to add insult to injury the people I trusted with my vehicle violated me even more when my items came up missing. They never should've been removed from the vehicle as Tony mentioned Sean took them out to access the damages. I have pictures of the trunk right now with so many parts in it that's its so evident my speakers were never placed back inside as there's no room. Thank you.
