Caliente Harley-Davidson agrees with the customer that when the bike was dropped off for service work that the chip was not present. If it were, it would have been noted on the walk around inspection form. So the customer bringing up the video quality to support his allegations is not relevant. We can all agree that the paint chip was not present when the bike was dropped off for service. Had the paint chip been present when the customer was looking for scratches/swirls in the paint, he clearly would have brought it to our attention at that time. At the time he picked up the bike and first noticed the faint scratches/swirls in the paint, his ONLY problem with Caliente was the scratches/swirls in the paint. When brought the saddlebag back to Caliente for buffing he then alleged we niched the saddlebag and caused a paint chip. This paint chip is in a VERY visible area and is about 3/16" wide. Clearly if it were present when he picked his bike, he would have complained about it at that time. The chip in the paint occurred AFTER it left Caliente Harley-Davidson. We offered to have the paint chip repaired by our contracted painter at a favorable price, but the customer refused and wanted Caliente to pick up the painting charges. Caliente Harley-Davidson stands behind the work it performs and if, in the rare event, damage is caused, then Caliente Harley-Davidson takes care of the problem and the customer. In this case, Caliente clearly did not cause the paint chip and WILL NOT repair it for the customer.

Caliente Harley-Davidson prides itself on providing outstanding service to each of it's customers. This complaint is completely baseless and the customer is asking for the dealership to repair damage to the bike after he picked it up from being serviced at Caliente. The customer is alleging that a...

chip in the saddle bag, very visible, about 3/16" in diameter, occurred while his bike was in for service. Here are the facts. When his bike was dropped off a complete walk around was done on his bike and no chip was noted on the walk around form. After the work was performed on his bike, and subsequently washed by our porters, the customer came in to pick up the bike and complained about some 'swirl marks' on the saddle bags. These swirl marks were VERY faint and were really only visible under specific lighting and viewing angles. They could easily have been overlooked during the walk around inspection. As a measure of good faith, Caliente agreed to polish these out for the customer. When the customer came to pick up the bike, he reviewed it with extreme detail looking for any signs of damage. If a chip in the saddle bag had been caused by the Caliente Service department, it would have been EASILY seen at the time of this inspection. Nothing at that time was noted by the customer about a chip in the paint. The chip in question is clearly visible and would have clearly been noted by the customer at that time. When the customer took the bike from the dealership and later returned with the chipped paint, he alleged that Caliente H-D caused the chip. Caliente did not cause the chipped paint and likely did not cause the miniscule paint swirls. Knowing now that the customer is trying to take advantage of the dealership's good nature, I regret having offered to polish out the swirls that, again, we likely did not cause. The team of people working at Caliente are very diligent at their jobs and take responsibility for any damage that may, rather seldom, may occur. If someone at Caliente had chipped the paint they would have notified their manager or the Service Writer assigned to the customer so that the customer could be contacted prior to picking up the bike. When bikes are washed at Caliente we use clean towels and soft brushes and the low-pressure washers have rubber tips to prevent damage. We do our own laundry, in-house, and make sure that there is always an ample supply of fresh towels and rags to clean the bikes. Again, this complaint is baseless and is an example of a customer trying to scream loudly to get damage, not caused by the dealership, fixed for free.

Mr. [redacted] did, in fact, come to our store for a 5K service on his bike. In the course of performing that service it was discovered that the air breather had not been properly installed. This was causing the bike to not run properly. Mr. [redacted] admitted that he, himself, had installed the air...

breather unit. Performing a 5K service does not include reinstalling this air breather and it does not include remapping the download to compensate for the improperly installed breather. When the 5K service was completed, the bike was washed and Mr. [redacted] was contacted to pick up the bike. He did not show up until nearly three weeks later, unannounced, to pick up his bike. The bike was washed the day we called to have the bike picked up, but it is not practical for us to wash every bike, ready to be picked up, every day waiting on customers that have not confirmed their pick-up times. And yes, unfortunately, the porter responsible for moving the bike accidently left the key in the accessory position which drained the battery during that period while we were waiting for the bike to be picked up. Once we saw the battery was dead, we put it on a charger, tested it, and it is now functioning properly. Once Mr. [redacted] showed up to pick up his bike, it was quickly washed while he waited. Had he called in in advance, the bike would have been washed prior to his arrival. Caliente Harley-Davidson prides itself on being the best motorcycle service department in the greater San Antonio area. Since opening our doors in November of 2006, we have consistently maintained the highest Customer Satisfaction scores of any Harley dealership in the area. If Mr. [redacted] chooses to bring his bike to another dealership for service, he is certainly free to do so. Response by [redacted], Caliente Harley-Davidson
