The phone number they called isn't in my name, so, no, they don't have the right to abuse their authority by calling me there without my permissionIt isn't on my credit report that I know of (and why should they be taking numbers off a credit report anyway)that are not listed on the application, and, when they left a message at the phone number that I put on my application, they did not state that they were calling for verification purposesThey didn't state that it was urgent

Dear MS. [redacted]:
justify;">This is in response to your letter dated April 19, 2016, which we received on April 25. You enclosed a copy of our customer's complaint, which questioned why we contacted her at a telephone number she had not provided to us.
The customer who contacted you opened her account with us online. As part of our standard procedure, we contact most customers via telephone after an account has been opened online. During this "welcome" call, we want to let our customers know that we are able to assist them with any questions and welcome them to our Bank.
When an account is opened online, there is an automated verification that occurs which uses credit report and public information to verify the customer's identity. Our procedure of calling customers also provides us another method of verification of the account. In this case, we were unable to reach the customer using the telephone number she provided in her online account application. We used an alternate telephone number provided during the verification process to contact her. And, it is important to note that the alternate telephone number is a publicly available number.
While we regret any inconvenience this may have caused the customer, it is important for us to be able to contact our customers via telephone for a variety of reasons, including account verification.
If she has further questions we encourage the customer to contact us directly.
Sincerely,
[redacted]
EVP, Chief Operating Officer ###-###-####
