Review: I received a letter from this company that is asking for a $65 payment due to the fact that their records show that my company (brand new business) has yet to file for a "certificate of status." This will show that our business "exists" is of "good standing" or is "authorized" etc... They even have a website [redacted] that looks somewhat legitimate. Yet when I looked online for anything regarding this certificate or this company all I came up with was "scam" warnings.Desired Settlement: I would like for this company to be shut down or not be allowed to send out this information. Also, how did they find out that I JUST recently opened up a new business? Is this practice legal?

Response:
[redacted], The above person making the complaint is NOT a client and we have no record of this person using our services. The person also claims that our advertising offering for a Certificate of Status is a scam yet online at the Secretary of State of California it states clearly a Certificate of Status is a legal document that is offered by them also. [redacted] ). All our mailings are in line with those allowed by the State. The person also states that they do not know how we received their contact information as a new company but yet the State of California Secretary offers these lists for sale to anyone who pays them. The person is also requesting that you shut us down? We dont think they understand exactly how the Unite States Free Enterprise System works and should take a remedial course in US History and or complete the third grade again. (If you can make them do that we would be extremely grateful along with the many other companies they will surely be writing about in the future) So for all the reasons above we request you disregard this and all future letters similar from this person as they are clearly out of their minds and are ill informed.
Review: False Advertisement. The California Compliance Center attempts to use official looking advertisement and documentation to charge consumers a fee when they start a new business. The advertisement uses a California Seal and is titled "California Certificate of Status" intended to confuse consumers into believing this is a California State requirement. The advertisement is carefully worded to "appear to indicate" that this a requirement and must immediately be acted upon.Only careful reading of the details confirm that this is not necessary and is not required by the government.Desired Settlement: I would like the business tagged as a false advertiser and I would like their advertisement titled at the top "Voluntary Certificate - Not Required by the State of California"

The person also states our letter is titled “California
Certificate of Status” and this name is intended to confuse but this is an
ACTUAL form the State of California provides and the name of the form is
exactly that which it is being called “ A California Certificate of Status’
form.
So for the reasons above we request you disregard this and
all future letters similar from this person as they are clearly ill informed.

Response:
I am rejecting this response because:
The response validates the points in my complaint by trying to deny same.
I am not a client, although the advertisement was sent with the intent to make me a client, primarily through deception by attempting to look like the State of California. Their response even indicates that they are using an ACTUAL form. This IS the attempted deception.
Only the fine print at the bottom of the form indicates that they are not affiliated with the State.
I will remove my complaint if they will remove the CA seal at the top of the form and change the form, so as not to confuse anyone that they are affiliated with the State of Ca.

Response:
We are not the state of california and nor do we attempt to be, our logo is nothing like the seal of the state of california and so therefore we will not change it because a non client feels it should be changed.
Again I am requesting this complaint be rejected as it is not based on anything except some persons personal opinion.
