California Energy Contractors Reviews (%countItem)

I first used California Energy Contractors to put a textcoat on my former house. I loved their work so I called them back to put a new roof, cool coat, and install a window on the next home I bought. They are knowledgeable, easy to work with, and gave me great pricing. As a matter of fact, my daughter arranged for a new roof on her home after mine was finished. I pretty much got everything done I needed but if I ever have a contracting need, I know who to call!

I called California Energy Contractors, Inc. to address the Telephone Consumer Protection Act Violation they made on January 29th, 2020.

I was contacted by one of the Sales Representative ladies marketing Energy Efficient Windows from California Energy Contractors, windows that would reduce my "heating and cooling costs."

And when digging a bit at her sales pitch managed to get the location of this company's office in Van Nuys. The gentleman I spoke to claimed that it was a different company going by the same name, which is unreasonable seeing that no company would hand over a potential client to another company and give the address of that company.

My name and number have been on the National Do Not Call Registry, and still this company fails to abide by the federal law by not updating their call lists.

I'm sure a subpoena of their call logs and practices would prove worthwhile for a state judge.

On 10/29/2018 called CEC. product releasing from wall of house. repeatedly called and have been told "we'll have some one out within 10 days. NO SHOW
I called 10/29/18 and talked with *** about product releasing from house. Told me that the applicator would be out in two weeks. *** showed up and he agreed that product was releasing from wall. He suggested that we wait until more was coming off to scrape all of it off. Time went by. I've called many times and a crew came by and loosened up some cracks and put some adhesive in the cracks about two months ago. I told them again and showed them again that the problem was on the entire house. It appears that the was very little bonding of product to the surface of the blocks that they filled and smoothed out prior to applying their product. I called CEC on 10/23/2019 and talked with *** again and told her if there was no action, I would call Revdex.com. They still have not shown up. I have paid them $*** for a job that is falling off house. I would like it to be corrected ASAP. One year is way long to deal with this.

Desired Outcome

This product needs to be removed from entire block portion house and surface properly prepared for Cool Wall product. No patching. New warranty shall be applied for new materials and labor.

Estimator for roof came, showed no ID, did not bring a ladder for a ROOFING estimate. This was for my elderly mothers home and she did not feel comfortable letting a stranger inside her home. We had arranged a nice shaded area to talk and discuss the estimate. He refused to talk about it with us because we would not allow him inside. He said it was hot. I explained why and he said "then we aren't the company for you." I was shocked and once again explained why my elderly mother didn't want a stranger inside and he said "then we aren't the company for you." He did not even explain why he would want in other than it was hot. We would have considered it if he had given us a valid reason why. There is no leaking and no attic. I then said ok, then you are refusing service (estimate) based on this so, have a nice day. He then complained that he drove 2.5 hours and I said that it wasn't our fault and Van Nuys is maybe and 1 hour from us, a little more in traffic. Wow, just wow.

As an owner of this company I am very disturbed by this review. I would like to speak to the homeowner ASAP, and explain to them how we handled the situation on our end. I have left a message on the homeowners answering machine for them to call me back. I hope to hear from them soon.

The promise was to block out the heat. Instead, It locks in heat! There was no mention that this was for AC covered homes. They know I DO NOT have AC!
I purchased on May 8,*** products, Roof, 3 energy efficient windows and a tex-cote stucco called "coolwall". The promise of the coolwall was to lower energy costs and block out the heat. Instead, my bill has raised because I need fans running almost 24 hours a day! How is this lowering my bills? . The first thing I mentioned was that I DO NOT have central AC. Right away, days after installation on June 11-17, I started to notice the emphasis on the heat of the day. I have spoken to the office many times since then via text and phone calls. A person by the name of *** has come out and checked the product. He took a sample on Aug 22, Never heard from him again. He is the only person to come out. Last spoke to *** on 9-1-17 she asked if anyone came out the previous day. I mentioned why they would come out and not let me know? I have initiated EVERY contact since the beginning of this issue with their product. I have spoken to the secretary, installer, sales person, corporate personnel. None of which reply back to me whatsoever. Why do I have to leave my home when it gets hot? I'm retired, I should be happy and enjoying my home. this is what I've worked my entire life for.

purchase date May 8,2017
sales rep- *** contr lic #***
Tex-Cote contract # *** stating all warranties are included on contract.
payment method# HERO PROGRAM APPROVAL ***
payment amount# $*** (for coolwall)

Desired Outcome

All I am seeking is whatever form of resolution they can offer me to correct this situation with their product to cool my home down. From adjustment to the product to match the promise they offer for it. If none available, REMOVAL of product and replace with REGULAR stucco as I previously had. Adjust the price accordingly

California Energy Contractors Response • Feb 17, 2020

and myself agreed sometime last year on a resolution. California energy contractors agreed to reinburst *** 500.00 for her inconveinance.
*** understands that the product does cool the walls down, but also understands that the house needs to have airconditioning in order for it stay cool.

The product was advertised as lifetime and guaranteed for lifetime. Once, I contacted the company for repairs they said it would be $400 in labor.
I was contacted by California Energy Contractor and told *** for my home was the best way to protect my home for a lifetime. Additionally, I was told *** was guaranteed for life. I have since had a huge problem with *** bubbling. I have numerous locations on my home and garage where the *** is with bubbling or peeling. I contacted *** at California Energy Contractor after several attempts. I called many times and left numerous messages, which appeared to fall upon deaf ears. Eventually, *** returned my phone call and said he would send someone out to my home to look at the faulty areas where *** failed. Several weeks passed *** several phone calls were made to California Energy Contractor. Therefore, after weeks of waiting finally a repair person from California Energy Contractor arrived at my home to inspect the bubbling and peeling areas on my home and garage. *** later called and said the areas where the bubbling and peeling where found were cause by a common fungus. *** said the fungus was caused by moisture. I reminded *** that California Energy Contractor told me *** would be applied to my home and protect my home from the weather. I was told trenches would be dug around the application areas and *** would be applied, thus protection from water or moisture damage. I explained to *** that *** was supposedly lifetime and my home needed repairs. *** told me he would obtain free paint (***); however, I would be responsible for a $400 labor charge. this cost for repair should not be charged on a product that is lifetime. *** and California Energy Contractor are falsely advertising and failing to repair my home without paying for labor. Please help me find a remedy to get my home repaired without having a large labor cost. I paid well over $*** to have *** applied to my residence and I was told the application of *** was lifetime coverage. I contacted *** directly. I was told that the product was one either applied incorrectly or the product was cut or diluted to try and use less of the product. One of these two reasons is why the product is malfunctioning bubbling and peeling.

Desired Outcome

To have my home and garage repaired and free from peeling and or bubbling. To have the product applied correctly and not diluted.
