rejecting this response because: I did receive Mr***'s telephone call, but after further consideration I would feel most comfortable with a third party overview of our communication I appreciate his call I gave him a check (#1307) for $1,as a down payment for his services On 5/7/a second check was given to him in the amount of $8, He required these checks to be cleared by my bank before he would begin the job It was paid in full approximately weeks before the job was done I have no recollection of a building permit as I spoke to no one from the city after the work was completed Perhaps a permit was not required, I don't know I called Mr*** the first time the day after the job was done There were tennis shoe marks in the settled cement where his workers had stepped in it while pressing in the forms There was another area I was particularly concerned about in the area coming up to the front door - a significant dip in the cement where someone could easily trip Mr*** came to my home early the next day and those problems were taken care of immediately, those areas were broken up and replaced. The second time I called him I told him that his backhoe operator had taken out a brick and damaged another one in the corner of my house He assured me that he would send someone over and it would be taken care of That was the last time I heard from him The damage was not taken care of.I placed a third call to him, but no response What I was left with to clean up was not acceptable I had to restain my fence as it was left with cement water marks As were the bricks on the front of the houseThe sprinkler system along both sides of the main walkway from the street to the front door was virtually smashed up and had to be replaced, as was the area near the mailbox; again from the street to the garage The electrical wires for the walkway lights was cut in several places and had to be replaced The most difficult part of this was a cord had been cut that should have gone under the cement It has been replaced I still have a problematic area, a large water leak from an improperly installed drainage pipe I have had a licensed contractor look at it and that is being taken care of On the day the work was to be done Mr*** told me that he had another job to do on the same day and that he would not be at my home There were about a dozen men at my home that day I suspected many of them were day workers and not employees But, I don't know that The man who supervised the job actually left the job site for several hours in the afternoon When Mr*** came to my house the next day, he would have readily seen how poorly the job was done Many of the pressed in marks for the brick pattern are barely done they are so light Some are marks done with a tool after the cement was too dry to correct it Some are restamping marks where they pulled the form up and then put it down again, not in the same spot, finger marks where the forms were pulled up in the corners I was outside watching the entire time his men were working About a block from my home is an area that was done by another company that is the same exact pattern that I contracted for I recently just discovered it I was shocked when I saw how my driveway should look as opposed to how it really is No one from Mr***'s company, or he himself ever called for followup to ask if I was happy I was not asked to sign anything accepting the quality of this work It was not signed off by the city I had to pay cash up front, in full, before the job was to be started Looking back these are all red flags. At that time I recall Mr*** telling me that he was moving from his home in Granite Bay to RosevilleI believe that was either a day or two before the job was to be done He had another job to do the same day, it may have been in the Bay area, so he could not supervise the jobMr*** is well aware of how badly the job was done as he was at my home the day after it was completed It would appear he was stretched to the limit for time, quality workers and finances (as this had to be paid cash up front before completion) I have since had quite a bit of work done on my home - all new windows, plastering, painting, flooring, etc I have worked with many other types of contractors I know now that how this job was done was not only not ethical but the shear fact that no one, not one single person from his company did any kind of followup, even after he observed the quality of the work the day after the job was done

In your earlier email you stated we messed up your drainage and irrigationWhen we were setting the forms a stake that holds the forms at the edge of the driveway went through an irrigation pipeThe day after we poured the concrete we stripped the formsWe then tested your sprinklers, in one place water was shooting up, so we fixed the PVC pipe and that was the extent of any damage we did to your sprinklers. In regards to your drainage, we never touched it, in any way shape or form, so if it wasn't working after we left it wasn't working before we got thereIt is completely separate and irrelevant to pouring your driveway and entryOne thing has nothing to do with the otherWe poured your driveway on May 7, we went over your driveway May 8th the next dayYou determined the entry was unsatisfactory, we talked about the light stamped area, you said leave it, but lets replace the entry, so that is what we didI ordered another concrete truck to come deliver more concrete to replace the entryIt would have been very easy at that time to replace another section or two if you wanted us toOver 1/years has gone by without hearing from youI pour concrete within a few miles of your home at least once a monthIt would be very easy to remove a section or two that you are unhappy with and repour itI would then recolor your entire driveway and entry at no cost to youYou stated we messed up some brick work, I have a brick mason that works for me, we can fix it Just so you know your warranty expired after years of the pourThe state only mandates contractors warranty residential concrete jobs for yearsI am not obligated to do anything at this point, but I would like to try and make you happyI believe we can make your driveway look fantasticPlease feel free to call me and we can talk about it

I don't understand what he meant that the Mrswas difficult to work with since the start of the projectThe Mrshad a few questions after the concrete was poured and drying, which are the following: concrete work had white spots all over the cement work a few days after it was finished,( I have to inquire why it looked like that and that was explained and understood) there were a few cracks already a week or two after it was finished, there was a space between the overhung posts and the cement and he said it should really look like that , but why were the other posts directly touching the cement if it should be the way he said? like the posts were hanging, the gate was sawn off irregularly at the bottom and the fence which his workers cut off to give way to the machinery used in demolishing the old concrete was not nailed correctly to its original , there are a few others I will not mention as all of these will just be unresolved and will just let it go for peace of mindHe must not have accepted these problems pointed out to him that for every problem that was needed to be corrected, there is a denial that there's something to be done to the problem pointed out and that's why it was stated that the MrsIs difficult to work withThe contract was for 3-weeks and during the four weeks, there was only one or two rainy days and the work was finished after two months insteadI will have no more comments after this and this case is closed Thank you very much Revdex.com staff for all your assistance which I know helped very much

Thank you for responding to my correspondence regarding the above matter I basically wrote regarding my less than satisfactory experience with California Exteriors, Inc I would love to have some response from them and possibly some repairs done at no cost to me, but do not expect that
I will hear from them *** ***

I left a message with *** *** *** asking her to give me a call to discuss her issuesI believe this job is over years old, prior to this complaint she has never contacted me expressing any dissatisfactionI will wait to hear from her to see if we can resolve her issues with the work

Hi, for the final closure of this case,  I would like to include this note to the response I sent yesterday, May 14,3015, that I would like to thank the Revdex.com for this  website, it truly is a great help for us the consumers, secondly, I would like to tell the company I'm sorry for filing the complaint ( for I believe that it will take longer to finish the job if I did not) and regarding the work done by the company, overall, the backyard looks very good and I thank them for that. Sincerely, [redacted]

I am rejecting this response because: This was never about the money.  I wish you had completed this contract back in September and we wouldn't be here today. The work on my house would have been completed and you would have been paid accordingly.  I am not paying for this type of service.  This is my home and maybe it wasn't a big contract for you, but I unfortunately don't appreciate it being treated the way it has been. This is my home and I will fight to protect it at all cost.  This complaint was filed because I wanted people to know the type of service you provided.  With that said, I can't ignore how poorly my contract and home was treated.  I had no problem paying the balance on my contract provided the work was done and not continuously ignored.  Sorry this had to come to this and I hope better service for your future customers.

We can be at your home on Thursday June 30th between 7:30 am and 8:00 am to meet with you and get started. Are we in agreement that there is still a balance of 2400.00 to be paid when this punch list is completed? Please respond via email at [redacted]Thanks,[redacted]

[redacted], if you ever want to contact me as I have told you many times...call my cell phone number [redacted]. I am and always have been available 24 hours a day.  You have never called me where I haven't returned your call within a few hours. As per your complaint, the reason why your city sidewalk has cracks which is less than 10 % of the job, is because its against code to reinforce it with re-bar as I have explained to you. You had a major earthquake in your area just over a year ago. There is obviously still tremors from time to time. The other 90 % of the job meaning your driveway and entry is in great shape (structurally) because it is reinforced with rebar. Having said that please take some photos of all the panels you are unhappy with and I will contact you after I look at them.
Thanks,
[redacted]

We built a retaining wall and poured a pool deck, patio and walk way. All the concrete work that was done looks amazing. [redacted] complaint was the stucco. We did an imperfect smooth type finish. She immediately pointed out to me some areas she was unhappy with. We corrected most of her...

concerns. She then said she wanted us to work on it a little more smoothing out some areas she was still unhappy with. She also pointed out some clean-up that needed to be done in the planters and cut a piece of rebar by the pool equipment. We could complete this task in one day easily. We met right before Christmas 2015. I told her I would get it done in a few weeks after the holidays and the weather got better. I called her around January 10th left her a message with no reply from her. I've left her over a dozen messages through January and February with no reply. In March I stopped by her house and left a card in her door with my number. She has never bothered to call me in nearly six months. Now she files a complaint with Revdex.com. She owes me about 3,000.00 in our last meeting she expressed to me a few concerns and I generously told her I would lower the balance due to 2,400.00 Why she would say she no longer trusts me is laughable when she still owes ME several Thousand dollars for a few hundred dollars worth of work to be done. I would love the opportunity to finish the job and get paid. But she has not returned my calls to grant me access.Thank you,[redacted]

I am rejecting this response because: I stand corrected, I believed I had paid for the job in full before it was completed.  I am glad that Mr. [redacted] was able to find his paperwork.  To address the other issues, yes, a minor problem with the irrigation system was taken care of.  However, I stand firm that all of the pipes on both sides of the sidewalk leading up to the house from the street had to be replaced as they were literally smashed to pieces, possibly from the backhoe.  Also the pipes and several sprinkler heads from the mailbox area at the street up to the garage had to be replaced for the same reason.  While Mr. [redacted] did come to my home the day after the pour was completed, he did look at the area where the foot prints were and also the area near the front door where there was a dip in the cement.  Those areas were replaced.  However, to say the job was inspected is a misstatement.  He would have readily seen the cement spatters on the fence, on the front of the house, the broken bricks (which I called him about later and have yet to be taken care of), and the quality of the work done on the cement itself.  I do acknowledge Mr. [redacted] told me there would be upkeep.  I purchased a Karcher pressure washer and treated the cement.  Because of the drought though it has been impossible to pressure spray the driveway.  That is not the issue tho.  I graciously decline his offer of restaining and cleaning the cement.  That's only putting a bandaid over the bigger problem and it doesn't solve anything.  Sure, it might look nicer from a distance, but it doesn't correct the appearance that I see every day.  That being the many, many finger marks from pulling the forms up haphazardly, still, a tennis shoe mark, too light compressions of the rubber forms leaving a very inconsistent pattern in the cement, double stamping (not in the same spot), and attempts to correct problem areas with a hand tool that are obvious.  The quality of the work is extremely poor.  I have heard this from most of my neighbors who will not use his company, from other contractors, and my daughter and son-in-law who are both licensed architects.  Mr. [redacted] did tell me that cement cracks and that he could not guarantee it wouldn't crack.  I acknowledge that.  I do have 3 cracks in the cement that I can readily see, but that is not my complaint.  This is a very expensive job gone wrong.  It bothers me every single day I have to look at it and that is only reinforced by comments by others.  Mr. [redacted]'s signature is on this job, it's a worst case scenario; example if you will from a company that probably does great work otherwise.  I was the exception. I have taken about a dozen pictures I would like to forward.  As computers are not my area of expertise it may take me a day or two to figure out how to do that.

This job is completely done as of 5/13/2015. The Mr. wanted the project done and the Misses did not want the project done. The Misses has been very difficult to work with from the start of this project. The majority of this job 85% was done on time and per contract. The putting green material...

(artificial grass) he picked was special order, so it did take a bit longer than expected. Also, there was a short delay due to weather.

We have finished all remaining work at [redacted]., in Calistoga. Mrs. [redacted]'s job is complete and customer is satisfied.

Revdex.com:
I have reviewed the response made by the business in reference to my concern, and find that this resolution is satisfactory to me.
Works still needs to be completed correctly but my husband is very ill and I can't worry about it now.

Review: This is a contract and customer service issue. I had a large concrete job done in my yard. I was specific in certain things that I wanted. The contract was drawn with a verbal, "that's included or we'll take care of it." As the job was being completed, certain items that was clearly requested, now had a price tag. Concrete was poured without addressing previous requests. On a couple occasions, conversations were forgotten or simply not taken care of or communicated to workers which left me with future issues. On days that were stated that work was going to be done, no one showed or called. I would get a call 2-3 weeks later requesting to do the work promised some time ago. My yard is still not complete to contract. I specifically went over several items that had not been done, outside of the items that were too late to fix, and there was no effort to finish the job. The concrete itself looks amazing, but the functionality of the yard due to very important details is almost non-existent.Desired Settlement: I am very disappointed with the quality of work that has been put into my job by the contractor, finding it hard to want him to return. However, I would like my yard completed. I no longer trust him. I would like to explore other options in completing my yard, however, it would cost more to hire someone to fix the issues left in this contract. I held his last payment for completion, but it would still take more than that to complete the job. Any suggestions would be appreciated.

We contracted with a custom awning company that sub-contracted with California Exteriors for a stamped concrete patio. The workers were fast and efficient with removal of the old concrete patio. They allowed me to be pro-active by me setting sprinkler pipes before the concrete was to be poured. While cutting old concrete with a masonry blade, I asked if they could cut out a piece of concrete in another part of the yard for running some electrical, and they willingly did this for me. I appreciated the intense labor involved with such a project, and therefore, offered water and sodas for the workers, which they were very grateful, Finished patio, with their design and our choice of color looks fantastic, awning too.

Review: Dear Mr. [redacted]: In early August, 2012, your company completed a concrete job at my house which included driveway, sidewalk and yard sidewalks. In less than a year several crack appeared in this $10,000.00+ job. It was very difficult to reach you starting in July, 2013, but finally a guy showed up at my house and “filled” two cracks. I sent you a letter 5-13-14 letting you know how poor this repair job was and that the crazks were worse now. Approximately two months later one crazy was again “cosmetically” repaired. You were again notified by several phone calls and a letter that the cracks were enlarging and concrete was crumbling in September, 2014. Someone came and took pictures on 10-3-14 and on 10-8-14 one panel of the sidewalk was replaced at a “bargain rate” (per Ken) to me of $200.00.Desired Settlement: At this point this new panel is again cracked and there are four other cracks in different panels. I cannot believe a $10,000.00 concrete job should hold up so poorly! It is a very unsatisfactory job, and it has been very difficult to communicate with your company. Your company will never be recommended by me. If nothing else I learned a valuable lesson – deal with reputable local companies rather than unknowns from out of town who are very difficult to contact. Very truly, [redacted]

Review: Several years ago I had a stamped concrete driveway put in by this company. The quality of the work was so bad this would be an embarrassment to the owner [redacted]. Mr. [redacted] was not there to supervise the job. The pattern is poorly stamped in most areas, a shoe print, fingerprints, poor color blending and fading are a small part of the problem. My sprinkling system had to be replaced, as did the electrical wiring for out door lights due to his workers breaking pipes and tearing out electrical lines. The fence was sprayed with cement water, it had to be repainted. 2 bricks on the exterior of the house were broken off by his backhoe operator. I did call Mr. [redacted] about this, asking that it be fixed. It was not. A drainage pipe near the street was improperly installed, causing chronic water leakage and flooding problems. I have called another contractor to at least get that fixed. I would never ever recommend this company to anyone. Even tho Mr. [redacted] came once to look at it, and had some of the concrete repoured, the job was just so bad I am sick about it. Virtually all of my neighbors have commented about it. In fact, several have asked the name of the company so as to not use this company for their own concrete work. I have 2 immediate family members who are architects that are aghast not only about the quality of the work, but the lack of integrity to followup. My driveway certainly will never be in his photo ops for advertisement.Desired Settlement: I would ask Mr. [redacted] if he would tolerate this for his own driveway. The workmanship is so shoddy it should be replaced.

Response:

I am rejecting this response because: I did receive Mr. [redacted]'s telephone call, but after further consideration I would feel most comfortable with a third party overview of our communication. I appreciate his call. I gave him a check (#1307) for $1,000 as a down payment for his services. On 5/7/2012 a second check was given to him in the amount of $8,700. He required these checks to be cleared by my bank before he would begin the job. It was paid in full approximately 2 weeks before the job was done. I have no recollection of a building permit as I spoke to no one from the city after the work was completed. Perhaps a permit was not required, I don't know. I called Mr. [redacted] the first time the day after the job was done. There were tennis shoe marks in the settled cement where his workers had stepped in it while pressing in the forms. There was another area I was particularly concerned about in the area coming up to the front door - a significant dip in the cement where someone could easily trip. Mr. [redacted] came to my home early the next day and those problems were taken care of immediately, those areas were broken up and replaced. The second time I called him I told him that his backhoe operator had taken out a brick and damaged another one in the corner of my house. He assured me that he would send someone over and it would be taken care of. That was the last time I heard from him. The damage was not taken care of.I placed a third call to him, but no response. What I was left with to clean up was not acceptable. I had to restain my fence as it was left with cement water marks. As were the bricks on the front of the house. The sprinkler system along both sides of the main walkway from the street to the front door was virtually smashed up and had to be replaced, as was the area near the mailbox; again from the street to the garage. The electrical wires for the walkway lights was cut in several places and had to be replaced. The most difficult part of this was a cord had been cut that should have gone under the cement. It has been replaced. I still have a problematic area, a large water leak from an improperly installed drainage pipe. I have had a licensed contractor look at it and that is being taken care of. On the day the work was to be done Mr. [redacted] told me that he had another job to do on the same day and that he would not be at my home. There were about a dozen men at my home that day. I suspected many of them were day workers and not employees. But, I don't know that. The man who supervised the job actually left the job site for several hours in the afternoon. When Mr. [redacted] came to my house the next day, he would have readily seen how poorly the job was done. Many of the pressed in marks for the brick pattern are barely done they are so light. Some are marks done with a tool after the cement was too dry to correct it. Some are restamping marks where they pulled the form up and then put it down again, not in the same spot, finger marks where the forms were pulled up in the corners. I was outside watching the entire time his men were working. About a block from my home is an area that was done by another company that is the same exact pattern that I contracted for. I recently just discovered it. I was shocked when I saw how my driveway should look as opposed to how it really is. No one from Mr. [redacted]'s company, or he himself ever called for followup to ask if I was happy. I was not asked to sign anything accepting the quality of this work. It was not signed off by the city. I had to pay cash up front, in full, before the job was to be started. Looking back these are all red flags. At that time I recall Mr. [redacted] telling me that he was moving from his home in Granite Bay to Roseville. I believe that was either a day or two before the job was to be done. He had another job to do the same day, it may have been in the Bay area, so he could not supervise the job. Mr. [redacted] is well aware of how badly the job was done as he was at my home the day after it was completed. It would appear he was stretched to the limit for time, quality workers and finances (as this had to be paid cash up front before completion). I have since had quite a bit of work done on my home - all new windows, plastering, painting, flooring, etc. I have worked with many other types of contractors. I know now that how this job was done was not only not ethical but the shear fact that no one, not one single person from his company did any kind of followup, even after he observed the quality of the work the day after the job was done.

In your earlier email you stated we messed up your drainage and irrigation. When we were setting the forms a stake that holds the forms at the edge of the driveway went through an irrigation pipe. The day after we poured the concrete we stripped the forms. We then tested your sprinklers, in one place water was shooting up, so we fixed the PVC pipe and that was the extent of any damage we did to your sprinklers. In regards to your drainage, we never touched it, in any way shape or form, so if it wasn't working after we left it wasn't working before we got there. It is completely separate and irrelevant to pouring your driveway and entry. One thing has nothing to do with the other. We poured your driveway on May 7, 2012 we went over your driveway May 8th the next day. You determined the entry was unsatisfactory, we talked about the light stamped area, you said leave it, but lets replace the entry, so that is what we did. I ordered another concrete truck to come deliver more concrete to replace the entry. It would have been very easy at that time to replace another section or two if you wanted us to. Over 3 1/2 years has gone by without hearing from you. I pour concrete within a few miles of your home at least once a month. It would be very easy to remove a section or two that you are unhappy with and repour it. I would then recolor your entire driveway and entry at no cost to you. You stated we messed up some brick work, I have a brick mason that works for me, we can fix it. Just so you know your warranty expired after 2 years of the pour. The state only mandates contractors warranty residential concrete jobs for 2 years. I am not obligated to do anything at this point, but I would like to try and make you happy. I believe we can make your driveway look fantastic. Please feel free to call me and we can talk about it.

Review: We signed a contract with this company with [redacted] last February 19, 2015 to work on our backyard including the landscaping and to start the work on March 9,2015 to be finished in 3-4 weeks. A down payment was given on February 19 and was also given a large sum of money for ordering the artificial grass a few days after. Work started on March 10,2015 and they finished the concrete last March 13,2015 and he was fully paid paid for that. Two weeks after, he had the patio cover installed and he was given the full payment. The landscaping was not started until April 10, almost a month since the last job was done( the patio cover). During the last 5 or 6 weeks, we have to call [redacted] if he's going to send somebody to finish the landscaping and he will send a couple of men to do the removal of the rocks for 2-4 hours in one day, after 2 days, he send his men to do drainage system for 2-3 hours , after two days, then send his men to do the plants and the bark . We have to call him almost each time and ask him if he is going to send his workers to do all these things or to finish what they started for I think if we would not have called him, nothing will be done and it's already the end of the month of April and nobody is here yet at 10:00 am to compact the areas where the artificial grass will be placed as he told my husband last Tuesday April 28th, that his men were not available Wednesday and he will send them today,Thursday, April 30. Since the week of April 6,2015, he's been telling us that it will be finished the following week. The following week came and still not finished. The artificial turf was not delivered until April 27th. It's the end of April, Thursday, and the job which should gave been finished in 4 weeks is going for its 8th week.Desired Settlement: We would like to have it finished by this week of April 27-May 1, 2015 ( not possible, I think since you're still to contact him in two days) or by next week as it has been too long already. I have never experienced such kind of work done partially each time the workers are sent to my residence and that never experienced that we have to call the contractor to ask if there will be workers he will be sending over to finish a job each time.Thank you very much and I appreciate your time and help.

Response:

This job is completely done as of 5/13/2015. The Mr. wanted the project done and the Misses did not want the project done. The Misses has been very difficult to work with from the start of this project. The majority of this job 85% was done on time and per contract. The putting green material (artificial grass) he picked was special order, so it did take a bit longer than expected. Also, there was a short delay due to weather.

Response:

I don't understand what he meant that the Mrs. was difficult to work with since the start of the project. The Mrs. had a few questions after the concrete was poured and drying, which are the following: concrete work had white spots all over the cement work a few days after it was finished,( I have to inquire why it looked like that and that was explained and understood) there were a few cracks already a week or two after it was finished, there was a space between the overhung posts and the cement and he said it should really look like that , but why were the other posts directly touching the cement if it should be the way he said? like the posts were hanging, the gate was sawn off irregularly at the bottom and the fence which his workers cut off to give way to the machinery used in demolishing the old concrete was not nailed correctly to its original , there are a few others I will not mention as all of these will just be unresolved and will just let it go for peace of mind. He must not have accepted these problems pointed out to him that for every problem that was needed to be corrected, there is a denial that there's something to be done to the problem pointed out and that's why it was stated that the Mrs. Is difficult to work with. The contract was for 3-4 weeks and during the four weeks, there was only one or two rainy days and the work was finished after two months instead. I will have no more comments after this and this case is closed . Thank you very much Revdex.com staff for all your assistance which I know helped very much.

Review: Company has not finished the job they were contracted to do, we have an 80% finished patio.

Calls and emails are not being answered.

I hired California Exteriors to install a stamped concrete patio. They installed and stamped the concrete but they have not returned to finish the job as stated on the contract. They have not sealed the patio so it is not usable. They have not back filled the trench around the patio where the forms were used. A drain pipe was pulled out of the stucco wall when being cut and not repaired. The cut drain pipe was supposed to be rerouted so the runoff would not stain the new patio. It has since rained and there are marks on the patio due to it not being sealed in a timely manner. The install was delayed a day due to poor scheduling by the contractors. Normally this wouldn't have been an issue but I am in the military and it was supposed to be poured two days before I left. It was even in the contract that it would be poured by 18 April, it was actually poured on the 19th. They said it needs to be power washed and sealed sometime in the first two weeks of May. Nothing more has been done to date. Calls and emails to the company are now going unanswered. I am currently deployed in the Arabian Gulf States so telephone calls will be a challenge however my wife [redacted] is at our home in Yuba City and can be reached at the phone number listed or I can be contatced via the email address given. All I wanted was to do something nice for my wife before I deployed so she could have a nice patio to relax on, instead we ended up with a 80% job with hollow promises and a lot of stress. Any help or guidance you can provide will be greatly appreciated. Desired Settlement: I would like them to come finsih the job properly.

The items still needing to be completed are:

Repair where the drain pipe was ripped off the wall when it was cut by your workers.

Reroute the drain pipe so it does not flow onto the patio or disturb the foundation as you said during our consultation.

Back fill the trenches around the patio with top soil.

Power wash the patio and seal with a non-slip sealer as written in the contract.

An apology to my wife for treating her poorly and causing her undue stress.

Business' Initial Response

Contact Name and Title: [redacted]

This job has been successfully completed. They filed a complaint regarding the sealing of their concrete which is not usually done for several weeks after the cement has been poured. As of this date this job is complete and I believe the customers are satisfied.

Consumer's Final Response

(The consumer indicated he/she DID NOT accept the response from the business.)

The owner, [redacted] is trying to make it sound as if this job was finished in an acceptable time frame. The patio was poured on the 19th of April, the sealing was not done until 3rd week in June. We were told the sealing would take place two weeks after the pour. Multiple calls and emails were sent to the company in an effort to get them to come out and finish the project. Our phone calls and emails were ignored. It wasn't until I had filed this Revdex.com complaint and informed California Exteriors that I had contacted the local TV stations to see if they wanted to do a story about a contractor who would not come finish a job, that California Exteriors finally made contact to schedule the last part of the job. In our consultation with the salesman, he told us the back downspout would be rerouted so it would not drain onto the new patio as they wouldn't want their nice finished work made dirty by the run off. When this was brought up to the owner of the company he refused to do that part of the work. All he kept saying was that the downspout had to be cut so the patio could be poured. We understood the downspout had to be cut but it also needed to be rerouted as discussed with the salesman. While my wife was trying to explain to the owner what work we expected to be done in regards to the downspout he lost his composure and became very aggressive.

The patio has finally been completed after nearly two months to an acceptable standard. For workmanship I would give them a B rating(due to the color having a noticable green tint when we were supposed to get granite grey) but for customer service after to cement pour I would give them a F rating. The salesman was very friendly and helpful right up until the pour, after the pour his assistance was virtually non-existent. I would highly recommend holding back 25% of final bill until job is complete. DO NOT pay in full upon pouring of the concrete. This complaint was originally filed on 7 June, although [redacted] did contact us to finish the work on the 10th of June he didn't actually respond to the complaint until 10 July. I only mention this as another example of the company's responsiveness to customer issues.
