This e-mail is in response to an e-mail you recently sent to [redacted] regarding a complaint from [redacted]   ID [redacted]. I have read the additional information that [redacted] sent to you. While the information is in more detail the circumstances of the complaint remain the same.                 We are talking about a ring that was purchased 15 months ago and was worn for a good bit of that time frame. Once a ring leaves our store we have no knowledge or control over how that ring is cared for or not properly cared for. There are numerous possible reasons for the problems [redacted] has had. It is impossible to say what is the cause. Like I said in my initial response, we have sold that design at least 25 times over the years and never had a problem so it is obviously not a flawed design. Regardless of the design of a ring there are times and activities when the the ring should not be worn so as to best take care of it.                  Even though it is unclear as to the cause of the problem we have always offered to repair it at no cost to [redacted]. As I stated in my initial response we have always had a clearly stated policy of no refunds. Hopefully [redacted] will return the ring to us so we can do the necessary repairs and ship it back to her                                                      Sincerely [redacted]

In December 2017, my fiancé and I visited California Gold, shopping for wedding rings. We discussed with the salesman several rings on display for use as a wedding band. I was attracted to but rejected a ring that [redacted], the salesman, and I both agreed  was impractical for a wedding ring, as it would not wear well everyday. [redacted], then pointed me to the ring I eventually purchased (which includes 3 pieces of quartz inlay) stating it, and some others like it—would make a good wedding band. I loved the ring and my fiancé found one also—and we left having purchased two rings, mine at a price of 1600.00.  The rings were shipped to us a few weeks later. We stored them away for use after being wed.       On March 2017, we wed. Shortly after the ceremony, I looked down at my ring—only to discover one of the quartz inlays had fallen out. Miraculously, my niece found it at the wedding podium.        I contacted [redacted] at California Gold immediately and he asked that I ship and insure the ring and it’s loose piece, back to him at my expense. He stated he would take out all three inlays and re-glue them all. I did so and he sent the re-glued ring back to me a few weeks later in April.        In December of 2017, the inlay again failed, and again I was lucky to find the piece. I contacted [redacted] again, and let him know I was personally bringing the ring back for resolution. At the store, [redacted] told me was going to have “[redacted] re-glue it this time, as he was the one that did the original work”.They shipped me the repaired ring a couple weeks later.        In February the ring fell apart yet again.          California Gold has again offered to repair it with this caveat to my daily wear of the ring intended as a wedding band:On Friday, February 16, 2018 3:53 PM, [redacted] <[redacted]> wrote:Hello [redacted],Exchanging the ring is not an option. As I said previously, we will repair the ring. We will remove all the stones and re-inlay them at no cost. We will pay for the return shipping back to you and we will include a check to you for your cost in shipping the package to us. [redacted] said he feels strongly that you will not have any further trouble. We have sold that design many times and it has never been problematic. Also, [redacted]'s wedding ring is an inlay and he has never had an trouble with it. He has been wearing it for 15 years. Caring for the ring means not to hot tub, swim, shower or do dishes while wearing the ring. If you decide to have us repair the ring please ship it back to us and insure it for it's value. Please include your return shipping address. You will have to sign for it. Please send it to:California Gold[redacted]Nevada City, CA  95959[redacted]I look forward to hearing back from you.Sincerely,[redacted]       I’m sorry, but taking on and off my wedding ring—to shower, bathe or do dishes—as the shop is now recommending—is the surest way to lose the ring in its entirety! This is particularly troubling as the salesman had stated steered my towards the ring as a choice for a good everyday wear ring. Additionally, while I have been exceptionally lucky in finding the pieces as they fall out—this ring fails to live up to any standards of good workmanship.      While we have no problem with the ring my wife purchased. I no longer have confidence in my ring.      I believe the best resolution in this case would be for me to receive full refund.Thank you very much, [redacted]

This letter is in response to a complaint you received from [redacted] regarding problems she has had with a ring she purchased from California Gold. I can certainly understand the frustration and disappointment [redacted] feels. It is not possible to say why she has continue to have a problem....

Over the years we have sold that same design at least twenty five times and never had a problem. Each time she has had a problem we have offered to fix it at no charge. We have an excellent reputation for the quality of jewelry we make and sell as well as great customer service. In fact after twenty seven years of owning a jewelry store this is the first and only time any customer has filed a complaint with the Revdex.com. What needs to happen is for [redacted] to send the ring back to us for repair. We would then remove all three gold quartz stones from the ring and re-inlay them with a fresh new epoxy bond. I feel confident this would fix the problem. We have told [redacted] we would do the repairs at no cost as well as reimburse her for the cost of shipping the ring back to us for repair. We have always had a clearly stated policy of no refunds so that is simply not an option. Hopefully [redacted] will send the ring back to us for repair and she can then enjoy wearing it for many years to come.
