Review: During my pregnancy I was having back pain. I went to Dr [redacted] at California Health Center. Before scheduling my chiropractic adjustment, I asked if they were in my insurance network and I offered to check myself. The front desk and billing woman said it was no problem, she'd check with my insurance. She made copies of my insurance card (Anthem Blue Cross). She told me they were in network and I would only need to pay my $20 co-pay per visit. I saw Dr [redacted] three times. I received a bill from my insurance stating Dr [redacted] was not covered. The first time I spoke with California Health Center I was informed there was a processing error on my insurance carrier's end and they were taking care of it. I waited three weeks and received another bill from my insurance. I called my insurance to check why I was receiving a bill, they informed me Dr [redacted] was not in network. I called California Health Center again, this time they told me there had been a mistake and they were not covered by my insurance. This is after my third adjustment. Next they told me I would be required to pay another $60. I asked if this amount could be lowered since they told me they were in network and I would not have gone to them had I known they were out of network. My insurance is widely accepted by other health professionals and finding another chiropractor in network was not an issue. I was told they would not lower the fee but if I wanted to purchase a package of adjustments, they would give me a discount. I said I did not want to purchase anything because I felt this was their fault and bad business. Throughout this transaction the desk/billing woman was very professional and I know this was not her call.Desired Settlement: Before receiving my chiropractic adjustment I asked if they were in my insurance network. They made a copy of my insurance card and assured me they were covered. I do not feel it is right that I should be asked to pay anymore money because this was California Health Centers mistake.
