California Loan & Jewelry Reviews (1)

Review: 1-On May 22, 2013 I took some jewelry items to California Loan & Jewelry, located at 916 J Street Sacramento, owned by Mr. Annapolsky. While on the phone he sounded nice and encouraging but he changed his tune when I got there! He selected only one gold earring and offered me $13 for it I thought the half is lost so reluctantly said yes. But in order to pay he asked for a comprehensive identity document s one after another and storing in the computer immediately even a copy of my Driver's license.

2- He did not issue a receipt and when asked for it he refused to do that and he said does not have any operational document on the basis of which he is licensed to operate.

3- Whatever questions I asked the answer was because I am saying so. No documentation no receipt and no respect for the customer.

4-At home I found the other half of the earring and when I came back few days later to buy it back he said I have to wait for a full month so he would sell it to me for a surcharge $12.00 only after a month.

5- Considering storing my identity in his computer he said he is going to keep it forever.

6- I went back to get the earring on July 28 he said he does not have it because I was six days late. He was extremely disrespectful and threatening and asked me to leave right away.

7-My question is why a financial business is allowed to operate as he does? And I want you to help me to get this self-centered and untrustworthy business person delete my confidential and personal information from his files.

Thanks

Desired Settlement: Delete my personal Information from his files completely..

Business' Initial Response

1. As best we can remember the item we purchased was the only one that was gold. We would have purchased more if they had been gold and/or Mr. [redacted] had authorized us to purchase them. It is California State Law that requires us to ask for a hard copy ID--drivers license, passport or matricular card. We also take a photo of the license or matricular card in case the police contact us regarding the transaction.

2. We usually give the customer a receipt if they ask for it. If we did not, we apologize. As for documents, all our licenses to operate--State and City are posted on the wall along with all other documentes as required.

3. We strive to give the best customer service possible, and again apologize for Mr. [redacted]'s perceived slights.

4. It was explained to Mr. [redacted] that State law requires us to hold all purchased items for 30 days. We offered to sell it back to him at more than we purchased it for and with sales tax added--again a state requirement--and he agreed to this.

5. We have over 8,000 clients information in our computors, and have never had a request to delete a client. We were under the impression we could not. We have checked with the software creator and have found out that it is possible to do so if we are so inclined.

6. Mr. [redacted] said that he would be in on a certain date and when he did not show up, we waited a few days more. When he had not contacted us by phone or in person, we scrapped--sold--the item as we are allowed by law to do to recoup our investment. When Mr. [redacted] finally came in, he became very abusive to our staff and was asked to leave the store.

7. As I stated earlier, California Loan & Jewelry strives to give the best customer service possible. Unforunately, no business can be 100% perfect. We have been in business in Sacramento for over 100 years and our record with the Revdex.com is excellant.

8. Hopefully we have answered Mr. [redacted]'s concerns and if there are any further questions, please contact me.

9. Also, now that we know that we can delete a clients file and it is legal to do so, we would be more than happy to remove Mr. [redacted]'s records as soon as he drops his complaint

Consumer's Final Response

In response your email I have to say that I have not received anything in the mail yet, I cannot speculate. The website address comments and explanations seem encouraging. The point is that I want serious problem solving, and not unverifiable statements or promises. I would like to receive proof that what he is stating is done. If that happens or would happen I withdraw my complaint and I wish him well. waiting for your response!

Respectfully

Business' Final Response

We have deleted Mr. [redacted]'s information from our database...

The only way we can prove it to him is to have him come in and we will show him that his name and information is no longer in the system...

Or he can trust us to say we did what he asked...As I am sure he is not going to come in here again, we have no reason to keep him in the system...

We have done as requested, now it is up to him to drop his complaint...
