This consumer came to my office looking for vehicles and test drove the car in question two different times. I recommended she take it to a mechanic each time. Before they paid me, I made sure they were happy with the vehicle. Not quite a week...

later she came back to my office because it broke down. I clarified the As-Is sale and explained it was her responsibility once she drove off the lot. I referred her to my mechanic, which her uncle is also employed at, and they worked on it. I am not liable for the car. As a good measure of faith I offered to give her $500 to go towards the repairs. She wanted to think about that and came back a couple days later and said they only had one car. I explained I had another car outside I was selling for $1,000 and agreed to just give it to her. She did accept that and said she was happy. I went up to talk to the mechanic, the same guy I take all of my vehicles to, and they said the consumers boyfriend had overfilled the oil which may or may not have contributed to the issues. Because he kept driving it while the car was messing up, they caused more damage. The car I gave them had a fresh inspection and everything was good with the car. Now she has contacted me saying the car I gave them to replace was experiencing problems. She was sort of elusive in telling me the problems and said it wasn't running. I saw the car at her place of employment after she told me it was not running. Her boyfriend admitted to the mechanic that they blew a radiator hose and continued to drive it because he thought he could add water to the antifreeze and keep going.
