Initial Business Response /* (1000, 5, 2015/05/29) */
We were very disappointed when we received the call from Mrs. [redacted] regarding the water issue she is having in her basement. We were able to locate the job folder in our records and determine that we contracted the plumbing work out to...

[redacted] Plumbing (licensed plumbing contractor). We were also able to identify that a plumbing permit was pulled and the work was inspected by the City of St Louis. It was stated by [redacted] with [redacted] Plumbing that the plumbing work was inspected by [redacted] not [redacted] as stated by Mrs. [redacted] still works for the City of St Louis and has discussed this particular job with [redacted] since the issue was discovered. We wanted to take a look at the job anyways to see if there was evidence that we may have caused the issue at hand, even though the job was completed 14 years ago. [redacted] ( C & T) did meet with [redacted] Plumbing) and [redacted] Plumbing (her plumber) out at the house to take a look. The cast iron pipe in question is a pipe that carries rain water from the downspout to the sewer system. It is not a pipe that would have been touched in any way during the course of the project. For all anyone knows, this pipe could have been like this since the house was built, roughly 60 years ago. [redacted] stated that there is no way they would have left a pipe like this had they disconnected it from a previous stack, nor would they leave it like this if they discovered it this way. The purpose of having permits pulled and inspections completed is to make sure that work is being conducted properly to the current local codes. Since we didn't see obvious evidence that we caused the issue, and the job passed [redacted] and the job was completed 14 years ago we did not see that we were responsible for this issue. We were also told by [redacted] that the issue could have been resolved for much less money than it's costing her. The downspout drain could have been redirected to the street level sewer for much less money and trouble. Based on our contract, we warranty our jobs for a period of 1 year against workmanship. If it is determined that an issue was our fault outside of that 1 year period we are certainly willing to help out. This is not one of those instances.
