I contracted Mr. to do a bathroom renovation that involved taking space from existing closet to make space for shower.
I contracted Mr. to do a bathroom renovation that involved taking space from my existing closet to make space for a shower in my adjacent 1/2 bathroom. Then recreate a closet by combining the hallway closet with remaining closet space not utilized by the addition of the shower. The work was going well until the last week of finalization. He began rushing, and when I would point out things that needed to be done within the scope of work he was to complete he would say things like "that was already like that." There are several areas that need to be redone on the drywall he installed. There are lumps, pocketed areas and unevenness in many areas of the drywall he installed. I also noted the light he put in does not go off completely. It stays on like a night light. The new faucet I purchased and inspected prior to his installation has a dent in it. He stated he would come back and fix everything but he had bronchitis and when he was feeling better would come out and complete the work but that was 3weeks ago. I gave him the alternative of giving me back $1500 to pay for the electrician and drywall contractor I would need to hire if he was unable to do the work. He declined that offer and said he would come but as I stated that was 3 weeks ago and I have not heard anything from him since. I made several attempts to get in contact with him with no response.

Desired Outcome

Repair of the drywall, replacing the faucet the damaged and fixing the light so that it goes of completely.

The last day of completing the project the client and I walked the job and she approved and paid the final payment. A day or two later I get a message stating that there was some drywall finishing she was not happy with and I explained that it was an existing damage. But as a courtesy I would come back and fix . Then she says that I damaged the faucet and I did not .Fixing old drywall was not in my contract . Also I was only allowed to work from 9am -2pm and all day Thursday because it was her day off this made completing the job difficult and took way more time than it should also the light she is referring to she purchased and I installed and it completely shut off when it was installed. The client also gave me her opinion that she paid me to much money . We agreed on a price there was a start date and I completed my contract. As the client is being difficult at this time I will not be going back.

Mr. is misstating some of the facts. First off I informed prior to starting the job of my schedule. He also stated that worked out good for him because he had is granddaughter to take to school and pick up. I even took off several days from work so he could work longer hours to complete the job but he still would leave early. There were also several days when he did not come at all due personal reasons. As for the final walk through that did not happen as he stated. On the last day of him working I had worked an overnight shift. He and his wife came an hour after I had just got home from work. I pointed out a few things about the drywall that I did not like and he said he would take care of it, I assumed he would and went to sleep because I had to go to work again that afternoon. I did pay him that day,but did not thoroughly look over the work because I was very tired. It was not until my day off which was a day later that I really looked over the work and I noticed all the things that were not done as requested and I noted the dent in the faucet. That is my fault for not truly giving a through review before paying him the final amount. However I did not think that when I informed of the things I noted that he would not be willing to come back and make the necessary repairs. As for the drywall in the remaking of the closet he had bridge old drywall with new drywall so and the areas of the bridging with the compound are not level. I pointed that out to him as I stated and did not fix it. I would not expect him to fix old drywall. All the areas in the photos are of the new drywall and unevenness of the bridging he did. The mistake I made was assuming he would take care of it as he stated he would.

As seen in his last response, he has no interest in fixing the work he did or giving me a partial refund to pay for someone else to complete the job he did. On top of poor quality of work, he has poor customer service. I am very disappointed.
