Customer brought truck to me from another shop that they complained about and said that they didn't want the other shop doing to workCustomers son dropped truck off with parts for the truck in the back seat and asked me to install the parts he had bought already a few months back
Customers son left his phone number only I had no idea it was Moms truck that I was working on I only had the sons phone number After removing cylinder heads to replace gaskets with customer supplied gaskets and head studs purchased months before I have seen the truck threw "bullet proof diesel" I had heads inspected at local machine shop "***" in Chico. *** notified me that the heads were cracked and needed some extra repair I then called to notify what I thought was the customer, but ended up being her son to notify of the extra work needed on cylinder heads He then asked what I would do if the truck we're mine and I said I would buy Ford factory heads at a cost of around each (I know the cost off the top of m head since I replace these often)His response was that he will find his own and bring them to meAfter he brought the cylinder heads I inspected the gaskets he supplied when he dropped the truck off and strongly suggested not using them and I had at least a 5-min phone call with him urging him to use factory Ford head gaskets His reply was "I Bought them from *** *** *** and they are a good company and they sell good parts" After the repair he notified me that the truck has a non CARB compliment after market turbo and non CARB approved after market bigger injectors The truck came in with non factory head gaskets and it had ARP studs already installed The head gaskets had failed because of the after market parts After the son picked the truck up he called about a week later saying that the truck was puking coolant on his way to Oregon over the ashland grade This is over a mile drive, and as invoices will show the son had driven the truck over miles between my repair and the last shops repair proving that my sons mom is lying about only driving the truck home Also my customer can supply invoices for the head gasket and stud kit they had bought from *** *** *** showing that they had purchased the parts way before I had even gotten the truck which will prove once again she is lying. As for them coming back and me charging hundreds for the coolant tank and cap that she is stating, the invoice clearly shows that he or she had me fix a broken AC line that the parts alone for the line was over and then AC Recharge The cap and bottle were not the only repair I had done at that time to the truckI never denied warranty work on there vehicle, but told them that I will not warranty parts that they had supplied My thought now is that the shop (Which if you would like to contact I can give you there name) didn't want to use customer supplied parts and knew this would be a problem customer The shop that repaired the truck after me was allowed to supply there own parts and even had the "Brand New" cylinder heads that the customer gave me surfaced That proves the cylinder heads bought off the internet were bad from the start. I strongly suggest factory parts to the son and all my invoices over the last years in business will reflect that 95% of the time I have supplied my customers with the parts they need Maybe the son never relayed my phone calls to his mom, again I did not have her number till as of lately. I did the job the customer asked for and if it wasn't for after market go fast parts and customer supplied lower grade replacement parts there wouldn't have been an issue I had no problem installing there parts thinking that they were trying to save money, and I didn't blame them since parts can cost a lot from the dealer Xtreme Diesel
