Complaint:
I am rejecting this response because:
Camarillo Dental has not contacted me on a daily basis and in fact when a message or email was sent, it would be days before a return call was received if at all. We had to keep following up. Also on
April 14, they requested my medical information for the surgery/extractions, (again I did not have any pre surgery consultation, I was left sitting there for half and hour so I walked out), told me they will be billing them immediately. I have been trying to confirm that they actually did this, requested the date of submission about times, finally yesterday *** *** informs me that they don't accept my insurance. April to June 19, it took them months to say they don't accept my insurance, why is that? They don't know what they take?
When I first walked into the office, I had a stay plate that I had used for nearly years, never had a problem with it and at least it fit. I do not know why I did not receive it back either and now I am left with this temporary piece of crap they gave me, it doesn't fit so I can hardly wear it. It makes it difficult to go out with no teeth! I never accepted the credit issued for services not performed as settlement, that was just return of funds for services not rendered. How could I have a beneficial relationship when they misrepresented the work they were going to do, and after months could not explain the next steps other than DrMar telling me "I would not wish this on anyone". She had one thing right, I wouldn't wish this experience to happen to anyone else

Review: Camarillo Dental group knowingly led me to believe they had performed dental procedures on me which were never done.Dr. Giselle Mar recommended I have Osseous Surgery and 4 bone grafts to my jaw.She said that Dr. Huston, who works out of her office could perform the procedure with a Laser (LANAP) A person from the front desk (Alma) brought an itemized sheet showing the cost of the procedureLANAP in all 4 quadrants, and 4 bone grafts were listed on the sheet my part after insurance would be $3850. On August 27, 2013, I had that appointment. Nadir entered the room and saidDr. Huston wont take your insurance, so the procedure will be $5900.00 instead. She said this while showing me a bill for LANAP and 4 bone grafts with much higher prices than the original quote.I said --then I will have to leave, She said--No, you should have it all done todayit will be easier for you--let me ask him if he will take the original price you were quoted ($4700). of course now I pay all. She amended the bill for a total of $2192 for bone grafts (codes 04263 Bone Graft and 04266 Resorbable Membrane) and $2508 for the LANAP. Dr. Hustons assistant answered my questions, while Dr. Huston was with another patient I asked her several specific questions about the LANAP and the bone grafts, which she answered. For example: "What kind of bone will be used in the grafts" She said Human or Animal--your choice --and I chose Human. When I got home I looked closely at my gums, I was mildly surprised that there were no sutures for the bone grafts, and I kept thinking about the procedure and that I had read that grafts could only be placed with incisions, and on Friday evening I went online and sure enough found that this was true. Nadir at first said that I did have the bone grafts, and then agreed that they did not do the bone grafts and said they would not return my money, but would not provide any more information no one has called me back despite repeated requests for an explanationDesired Settlement: Refund of the fraudulently billed amount of $2192 to my credit card. Copy of all my medical records and x rays to be picked up by me for which I will pay a reasonable fee. I have the itemized bill showing I was charged for bone grafts, the list of questions I asked prior to the procedure available if needed and will provide x rays showing that indeed NO bone materiel or membranes are in my jaw one week after they supposedly were put there.

Business

Response:

When the pt called the office, Dr. tried to go over the treatment that was done, but the pt refused to talk to the Dr. According to the Dr., a better, more advanced version of the treatment was done for the pt with her signed consent that actually produces better results for the pt. The reason it shows up different on the financial arrangement is that it was done at a discounted cost and it was paired up with the lower cost procedure.

The office will mail a copy of the treatment steps with the explanation and also all her signed consent and financial arrangements to pt address.

We are very sorry if there were any misunderstandings.

I am rejecting this response because: The statement made by the office is a lie. I did not misunderstand anything and they know this.

In reference to the LANAP, I had researched the procedure, and told Dr. Mar that I would have that procedure before having the old fashioned osseous surgery, she told me a doctor in her practice did do LANAP but that I would also need the bone grafts.

DR. MAR TOLD ME I NEEDED AND WAS HAVING BONE GRAFTS PERFORMED ON 8/27 AS WELL AS LANAP AND BILLED ME ON AN ITEMIZED BILL FOR THEM.

The procedure was not "discounted" The original summation of procedures I signed, at my check up, stated my part would be $3580 ($4700 total before insurance), minutes before the procedure--a month later, this was changed to $5900, Since I could not afford that and was getting up to leave, they did me a "big favor" of charging me $4700, the original price, only now-- no insurance coverage.

Will they answer these questions?

If I was not supposed to believe I was having bone grafts, why then was I told verbally, minutes before the procedure, that human bone would be used--used for what then?

Why was I told, verbally, minutes before the procedure, that Resorbable Membranes would be used--for what? (These are used in conjunction with bone grafts only)

Why did Dr. Mar tell me, that she thought LANAP was a good choice "as long as I still had the 4 bone grafts", at my check up, when I said I wanted to do the LANAP instead of traditional surgery?

Why was I told several times that I did have bone grafts by office personnel after the procedure when I called with questions?

Why did no one contact me--ever?--Was I just supposed to just go away?

Why did office manager, Alec, state to me on the phone on 9/9/13 that he "was finally able to decipher the Dr.'s notes" (come on, Alec, even I know they were not handwritten) and I did indeed have bone grafts, further he stated--if I did not have bone grafts in my jaw then they owed me my money back and an apology. (I have this recorded).

Why did Alec tell me Dr. Houston must have forgotten to do the bone grafts---he's human after all.... (!?!?!) . (recording also)

Why was I asked to come in and have an x-ray--to see if I had bone grafts, if this is a reasonable way they "always" bill it?

Why was my insurance rejected only minutes before the procedure?

Why was I billed with codes for bone grafts/resorbable membranes--would they have used these codes to bill my insurance?

Isn't that INSURANCE FRAUD?

What is it called when you use fraudulent codes to bill patients? ...CONSUMER FRAUD?

Dr. Houston is a regular dentist at your practice, you have a nice shiny brochure for him right on your front counter, so, why was I not told a month earlier-- or at anytime in the month between my check up and sitting in the chair to have the procedure, that he does not accept my insurance? What is this business practice called? Bait and Switch?

I have refrained, hoping that Camarillo Dental will admit their fault and make it right and refund the fraudulently obtained money, but if I do not have a refund in 5 days, by 10/08/2013-- I will have to take this injustice to social media, YOUTUBE, Yelp, Twitter , Facebook Ads .... As well provide an honest review of Camarillo Dental Group, Dr. Mar and Dr. Houston on all review sites: doctoroogle, angie's list, mdreviews, ratemds, zocdoc, betterdoctor, merchantcircle, healthgrades.....on and on ....and on... apparently there are many, many place to rate consumer experiences...not only the Revdex.com.

I will also actively pursue my claims with the Dental Board of California, California Department of Consumer Affairs, METLife, Just Health Now, and every other and any other avenue that I can pursue to get justice in this matter.

I am a military veteran and served 20 years to ensure that all , including myself, have Freedom of Speech, and will exercise that right.

You owe me $2192, + $31.88 interest = $2223.88--the amounts you billed me for Bone grafts/resorbable membranes plus interest I have paid to date.

At this moment, I am not asking for the damages that Dr. Huston did to my front teeth and to a filling during the procedure, but I am reconsidering this as well.

I am not at this time seeking to look into the work that was done on my very first appointment at Camarillo Dental by Dr. Mar --an onlay and a filling that was "desperately needed" ($$$$$$$$)..... that turned into a week later--the need for one of her cohorts ($$$$$$$$) to perform a root canal... and a return trip to her for a crown ($$$$$$$$$$$$$$$) all the work I had done by this office is beginning to feel suspicious to me.

Have a Nice Day,

Review: I went into this dental appointment due to a broken crown. They found other dental work to be done and the dentist, Dr. [redacted] said, "you will leave here with a nice smile", After a brief description of what the plan was. This is not the case and today the work is still not completed. I went on subsequent appointments and never saw the Doctor directly again until last week, at which time I was trying to get my temporary adjusted and asking questions, when she told me to find another dentist! I already paid nearly $3,000 upfront and now I am trying to get refunded and teeth. The customer service is horrible. They say they will call back and they don't.Desired Settlement: I would like my money back so that I can go someplace else and get the teeth that are now missing replaced. When I went in at least I had front teeth, now they pulled them, put in this crappy temporary and took my money.
