Review: I have been a patient of [redacted], O.D., F.O.A.A. for two years. This year, my third visit, I decided I wanted to wear contact lenses. I made an appointment and was advised of the additional charge for an additional exam needed for the contacts.Upon completing the first phase of the two phase exam Dr. [redacted] asked if I wanted to wear contacts. I replied "Yes, I'm vain and I do not want to wear glasses, anymore. At this point I would have expected an earnest and professional evaluation of my expectations. I wanted to wear contacts so I could stop wearing glasses. I made that clear to the doctor. Dr. [redacted] did not remark that my expectations were unrealistic. We continued with 6 to 7 appointments because I complained that the contacts were not adequate; that they performed far less successfully than my glasses. He tested my eyes each time, but the prescription never changed. He tried 3 different brands of lenses on me.Although I was still not satisfied he came to the decision that the lenses would be ordered. I got the call the lenses were in the office. I was still not happy with the performance because in some circumstances I could actually see better without the contacts. I went to the office and spoke to the doctor one last time. He told me that "people with contacts have more glasses". He went on to describe how many pairs of glasses his wife wears to complement her contacts. I did not purchase the contacts. I believe it was the doctors responsibility to inform me that my expectations were unrealistic, and that "people with contacts have more glasses". Why would I want contacts if doing so would not eliminate wearing glasses? I certainly did not want to buy contacts so that I would need more pairs of glasses. Had he, at the outset, been forthcoming about my expectations; and, that I would continue to need eye glasses, I would not have considered contacts, at all.Desired Settlement: The fee break down is as follows: REFRACTION$40.00CONTACT FITTING TORIC$166.00TOTAL$206.00
