Review: I want to let you know of a questionable practice going on at Sterling Hills, and Camarillo Springs golf courses. There is a group sponsored by the Golf Courses, running a hit the green contest, with the opportunity to win various prizes. The Course has tables and large banners set up to promote the contest, with support of Junior Golf highlighted. There are two unethical aspects to this activity. First, the offer is presented as Fundraising to support Junior Golf. I contacted Ventura County Junior Golf (VCJG) regarding my concerns. They replied that they are aware of the operation and have petitioned Mr. Park owner of the courses to stop representing the contest as supporting Junior Golf, since they are not associated with the enterprise, nor have they ever received any funds from the contest.Next, the contest offer is not presenting anything close to the actual opportunity. You are presented with this pitch; among other potential prizes for a hole in one, for $10, if you hit the green you receive a sleeve of golf balls, in addition for putting up $10 you receive a certificate than can be redeemed for $10 at Golfsmith, no risk. As it turns out, the $10 for Golfsmith is only valid if you also spend and additional $20, so a total commitment of $30, not mentioned by your representative. Additionally, the $10 certificate cannot be used for all items, at Golfsmith, only select items. I have emailed the course and requested the Junior Golf organization that benefits from the donations. I have not received a reply. I also emailed Golfsmith to advise of the offer presented by Camarillo Springs with their coupon, versus the reality. I am disgusted with a business owner stooping to generate revenue by misrepresenting itself as a charity, then to use carnival tricks to further defraud paying customers and pocketing the profits.Desired Settlement: I would like the Course to stop representing that it is running the hit the green contest to support Junior Golf. I also would like the Course to stop the deception on the $10 gift certificate. I would like an open admission of wrong doing and a donation to Junior Golf.
