Good morning, I received the complaint from *** *** regarding his security deposit refund from apartment #1110. Mr*** and I have spoken on numerous occasions regarding the paint via email. He accepted all the charges on the security deposit refund except the initial charge
for painting. He did demand the full return of the charge for paint. After showing him pictures of the paint needed after his move out I offered to refund $182.50. He did not respond so we had the check cut and mailed to him. I emailed him that the check would be coming and then he again demanded that the full amount be refunded. I tried to explain that we did not think this was fair, as we did have quite a bit of painting that needed to be completed. I tried to explain that wear and tear on the paint is based on a prorated basis. After years any basic painting would be free. Because Mr*** did not live in the apartment for a full years his discount would be prorated based on the months he has been in the apartment. Although we have numerous pictures proving that the paint was needed, we are willing to refund the additional $in an effort to promote good will.
