[redacted] Dear [redacted] , We are writing in response to [redacted] ’s Complaint (ID [redacted] ), dated February **, The Cambridge Writers’ Workshop (“CWW”) Paris Writing Retreat was as promised to the consumerParticipants were provided daily writing seminars, writing workshops, inspirational tours, ample opportunity to write, and feedback on written manuscriptsIn fact, one of the participants (who lodged in the same hotel and was provided the same services as [redacted] ) has already registered for a spot on our summer retreatFaculty that the CWW hired for the retreat in 2015, who lodged in the same hotel as well, have also elected to return to teach at the summer retreats It is untrue that the hotel did not offer an appropriate classroom or guestroomsWe reserved dedicated space for classes and offered participants the opportunity to vote on which we would use each dayThe Moroccan themed classroom was clean, quiet and perfectly suitable for classwork, as was the courtyard space (which, per student vote, was used frequently given the summer weather)Since the retreat, many participants have contacted us to express how inspirational they found the experience The retreat staff, instructors, and other students all stayed in the hotel and enjoyed the guestrooms without issueWhen [redacted] expressed dissatisfaction with her room ?" particularly citing the noise level from the street ?" we offered the most accommodating resolution at our disposal (a room in a different part of the hotel, overlooking the quiet courtyard)As fees had been prepaid to the hotel, a refund was not possible [redacted] declined the offer and moved to another hotel; she did, however, ask to keep some of her belongings in the room for 2-days following her departureWe said that was fine, since she had paid for the room When [redacted] approached us about this matter in Paris, she requested only a refund for four nights in the hotelHer current request for a full refund of $is therefore completely out of line with the actual nature of her grievance We have recurrently corresponded with [redacted] ’s legal representation regarding this matter [redacted] ’s attorney sent us a demand letter on her behalf on November **, requesting a full refundWe declined this request via a timely response letter to the attorneyShortly thereafter, we received a second demand letter echoing the firstHoping to resolve this matter amicably, we offered to refund four nights in the hotelThis offer, which [redacted] refused, was in no way an admission of wrongdoing on our behalf or an acknowledgment that the retreat was in any way substandard ?" it was simply a gesture of goodwill to a former student Through considerable effort and expense, we developed and organized an excellent program that met the expectations of our students [redacted] received the services promised ?" she spent multiple nights in the hotel and participated in retreat programming ?" and now seeks unjust compensationWe are therefore unwilling to offer a refund in any amount Sincerely, Diana Norma S [redacted] and Rita B [redacted] Executive Directors Cambridge Writers’ Workshop?
