Cameo Dental Specialists Reviews (%countItem)

My son had his wisdom teeth removed from the River Forest office in December of 2018.I was provided the cost for the procedure & what my out of pocket would be.I had both medical & dental insurance that Cameo Dental billed. Cameo Dental offers to take care of the billing & in my case since I was double insured so my insurance companies overpaid for my benefits resulting in a refund to me for my out of pocket payment & potentially any over payments made by my insurance companies since I pay for 2 premiums.Cameo dental claimed for numerous months that they were having an issue billing through Blue Cross Blue Shield as BCBS wasn't accepting their business code.Cameo Dental claims they billed BCBS multiple times.I talked with BCBS & they stated they did not have a claim on file.Once Cameo Dental worked out their business code status with BCBS a claim was accepted and paid. I have been talking with Becky, Office Manager, since November of 2018 about my over payment. Cameo Dental has strung me along in November 2019 finally issued me a refund for my out of pocket payment. Both my medical and dental insurance companies have said I am entitled to the over payments made by each insurance company and if Cameo Dental thought otherwise at a minimum the insurance companies should have been refunded if Cameo didn't feel I was owed that money. I have documentation of the amount over paid and to date Cameo Dental has not issued the remaining over payment to me or my insurance companies. I have been more than patient and they are not providing me with the additional explanations for the remaining over payment. Becky said she understood what I was saying and said accounting had to look deeper. My last correspondence with Becky was in early October of 2019.They provided me with their negotiated discount for my insurances and it now appears they feel they are entitled to keep those funds.Had I filed the insurance claim on my own I would have received the full overpayment.

Subject: Case# ***

To Whom It May Concern,

We sincerely apologize for the frustration and inconvenience this situation has caused Ms. Tokarz. We agree with her that the medical and/or dental insurance companies involved should be refunded due to an overpayment.

The overpayment has not been issued yet because despite multiple attempts, we have not received confirmation from either company how much money is owed.

Typically when a patient is covered with medical and dental coverage, we bill the medical insurance company first, and when we receive payment, we attach proof of this payment to the claim and send to the dental insurance company. Most medical and dental insurance companies coordinate benefits and promptly notify us if a refund is due.

The medical and dental insurance companies involved in this case do not coordinate benefits so we keep trying to work with each company to find out how much money is owed.

Please contact me at [email protected] or 708-456-7787 if you need any additional information.

I was referred to Cameo Dental Specialists, specifically Dr. Nermeen ***, by my ten year old son's dentist, after learning that he might need a root canal. Everything started normal. Dr. *** administered the Novocain shots, which appeared to be rough but my son handled it as well as he could. The trouble began when she tried to put in the metal rubber dam clamp. When it popped out, my son bursted into tears and was clearly in a tremendous amount of pain and discomfort. In my opinion, he should not have felt that much pain if Dr. *** had administered the local anesthetic accurately. To numb the area even more, she injected him an additional 5 plus times. Shortly after and as I was comforting my son, I noticed her assistant point to a cartridge on the table, which appeared to be the medication capsule which should have been inserted into the needle. It was then that I realized that she had injected my son the second time with an empty needle. After realizing this, she administered a third round of shots. In my opinion, over 15 injections is a bit excessive for a 10 year old. Dr. *** was clearly not experienced with working with children, which was later confirmed to me by the staff after the appointment. She was unprofessional and voiced her concerns in front of me and my son about a patient she did not want to keep waiting in the other room. After all of this, my son did not get the root canal. More importantly, he is completely traumatized and will not have the procedure done without sedation. It has been nearly 48 hours since the appointment and he is still unable to bite down and complains of aching jaws and therefore, cannot eat solid foods at this time. To add insult to injury, the office charged me and rescheduled an appointment in 10 days, even after I expressed my concern about my son's well-being and pain. This is unacceptable.
