Cameron Court Apartments Reviews (1)

I am currently renting an apartment at Cameron Court in New Haven, In At this time I have a refrigerator that I have been unsuccessfully trying to get repaired FOR MONTHS!! Shortly after moving in I found out there was a mouse in my house (that's rather a different story' but it is relevant to the refrigerator I noticed that the lower section was freezing items in the back Having had knowledge of refrigerators, I knew the first step was to pull the fridge out and ;make sure there was airflow I was completely floored, figuratively AND literally, the tag on the back of the fridge was dated and frankly I don't think it had EVER been pulled out or cleaned! The cardboard with the airflow slots was so full of dust that I had to remove it because the vacuum couldn't even get all the stuff out! I took the cardboard off and got that all cleared out I was almost sickened when I looked at the underside, all the dust and there was a lot, wasn't SO bad but the drainage tray was sickening! I spent 2-1/hours on laying on the floor with a roll of paper towels, the vacuum and a butter knife because there was some "mystery liquid", mold and mouse feces (I also found mouse feces in the stove, even under the burner area) I put the nasty paper towels in a large baggie and I did show it to the maintenance person because I have NEVER seen such a disaster! I also found mold in the vent area in the freezer, so it must have been without power at some point in time and when they cleaned it they didn't notice the mold When I still had issues someone did come and replace the thermostat (I had him take the vent tray off so I could clean out the mold) however, I was still having problems with the freezer rattling and it seems to be defrosting somewhat and then refreezing I went through the exact same issue with my own fridge when I owned my home It needs a defrost relay (some call it a switch) I also checked this out with my kids dad, he's been fixing all types of appliances for more than years, I explained what was going on and told him I had cleaned the back the 1st queshe asked was: Has the thermostat been replaced (yes) and then he said if what had been done didn't work the fridge needed a defrost relay My problem is that the AptMgris telling me that, "no the maintenance people have not ordered the part because there is nothing wrong with the fridge" The dang maintenance supvhas in fact been here twice, both times he was here for less than two minutesThe first time he was here all he did was turn the knob in the bottom section, I realized this when I went to get juice the next morning and most of the things in the fridge were partially frozen! Duh, if you have to turn your fridge past the half way mark, you have a problemBut he has never checked anything in the freezer and he's never looked at the back, so tell me what has he managed to check in two min.? So, either the maintenance guy is lying to the aptmgror she is lying to me, or both
I realize this is very lengthy, but would like those reading this to realize what they will have to deal with Another issue (I do have several, believe me) is that it took a month of scrubbing before I could put things away! I found even more mouse feces all over the kitchen! As I said, the stove had feces even under the burner where you cook, there was also feces in the storage drawer under the oven and when I pulled the stove out - Geez - I don't think it had ever been pulled out either so I don't guess I need to go into detail I found feces IN the cupboards and on the top of all the cupboards! I should mention that when I had called the aptmgr(prior to the current mgr.) she was completely nasty and told me she "thought this would be a problem since some of my belongings had been in a shed", I told her I wasn't stupid and that I had lived in the boonies and knew how not to have mice and I had unpacked every single thing that had been in the shed and had put it new boxesSo, even though on a simple "walk through" the apt"looked" nice and clean, every single window sill was full of dirt, the windows are filthy, the baseboards in every room needed cleaned and the bathroom floors and wallboards were particularly nasty! The shelf in living room closet has collapsed THREE times now, because the screws holding the shelf were never secured into a stud, finally the third time the one guy brought a stud finder and we had a hard time locating the studs because when we did find them they were inches apart! I had told him that if the mgmntcorunning the place had built them, the studs weren't at in., I was joking around, but sure enough (but in.?) Every time the shelf collapsed it sounded like a bomb but I thought my neighbor had fallen down the stairs! Well, I'm going to stop, at least this time
