I do respect your decision to stop training and daycare at Camp Bow Wow.  I would however like for you to try to understand our protocol for handling dogs in this environment. We offer a free evaluation day which you accepted on August 11,2016.  We use this day to slowly introduce new dogs...

to our employees and to our playgroups.  Many times it takes time for the new dog to acclimate to new people and a larger group than they are used to.  We then advise the owner whether we feel the dog will be happy in this environment.  The staff told you at the end of the evaluation day that [redacted] was nervous but they felt he would adjust after a few visits. When you inquired about training, our trainer contacted you and explained the training programs that we offer.  Those include the Play and Train, Board and Train and In-Home options.  She also explained that each dog is different and it may take a few sessions to develop a trusting relationship.  Our trainer is CPDT Certified and has been training for over 8 years. The Play and Train started for [redacted] on August 22,2016 and we initially put him into one of our large dog play areas.  Again, he was nervous but seemed to be warming up to the environment and the Camp Counselors.  Our trainer pulled [redacted] from the play area twice that day and spent extra time building a relationship with him as well as begin the 3 basic behaviors of “Look at Me”, Sit and Down.  The trainer met with you at the end of the day to discuss the progress, as well as provide you with detailed printed homework instruction.  On August 29, 2016, you and [redacted] returned for the 2nd day of Play and Train.  We had a smaller group of large dogs that day, so they were all in play area 4.  [redacted] was placed in 4 and seemed to be doing fine.  As the group grew, the Counselor moved all of the dogs into our larger play area 5 to give them more space to play.  [redacted] did not want to move to 5, when the Counselor approached him to move him over, he backed up and growled.  The Counselor followed procedure and left him alone to calm down and move over at his own pace.  We will never force a dog into a play area where he is not comfortable. She continued to try to call him over and all he would do is bark at her, a second Counselor also tried to coax him to go with the other dogs and he barked and backed up again.  After about 30 minutes of coaxing, we moved 2 dogs into play area 4 with him.   The trainer did her training session with him and continued to work on the basic skills.  She did a follow up with you after the session.  You stated your concern to her that you did not want [redacted] to ever be alone in a play area and you wanted our promise the he would never be alone. [redacted] returned on September 1, 2016 for his third Play and Train Day.  He acclimated well in the play area and the Trainer continued the level 1 training skills where she reported that he did very well.  You talked with my Manager and the Trainer who explained that we cannot promise to never leave a dog alone.  You then sent a message that you would not continue daycare or training at Camp Bow Wow. I believe the real issue here is that we would not promise to never leave [redacted] alone.  We cannot make that kind of promise.  Dogs in play groups can get into altercations, they can get tired, they can get irritable, they can get overstimulated.  We separate dogs from the pack when that happens.  They go into “time out”.  The safety of the dogs and the employees is my number one priority and I will not compromise that safety.  You purchased a 5-day intro daycare package for $120, you also purchased a 5-day training package for $270.   [redacted] did 3 full days of daycare in addition to his free evaluation day.  [redacted] also did 3 days of training.  We fulfilled our obligation for 3 days.  I will refund the 2 days of daycare and 2 days of training that were not done because you chose not to bring him back.  The total refund would be $156.00.

Revdex.com:
I have reviewed the response made by the business in reference to complaint ID [redacted], and have determined that this does not resolve my complaint.  For your reference, details of the offer I reviewed appear below.I never failed to cancel within 24 hours so this does not apply to me.  It NO where states that a refund is never allowed.  And in this case, Camp Bow Wow failed to meet their end of contractual obligations and now I need to pay another trainer to train my dog.My bank has already issued me a temporary credit.  I'll be happy to include this in evidence for them to take permanently take the refund from Camp Bow Wow.[To assist us in bringing this matter to a close, we would like to know your view on the matter.]

You signed up for Level One Basic Play and Train. Level One includes “Look at Me, Sit and Down”.  That was explained by the trainer and you were given detailed printed homework sheets after each session.    I have a contract signed and initialed by [redacted] on August 15,2016. Item #6 of the contract states: Cancellation and Refund Policy – You will be charged the equivalent of one (1) full day of doggy day care, if you fail to cancel a reservation twenty-four (24) hours in advance of drop off time.  I am happy to refund 2 days of daycare and 2 days of training that were cancelled.  Total refund $156.00

I get that watch me is included. Glad he knows that but after three sessions (60% of the entire lesson one) that is the ONLY new training [redacted] received. There are I believe 12 new training lessons that [redacted] is supposed to have received. That one new lesson is only 8% of the series. That is a major fail and the contract was never going to be fulfilled on your end in those two remaining lessons.I need a FULL refund and a copy of that contract. If you continue to deny it, my bank is handling the dispute on their end as well. So if you don't willingly give up the funds, they will be returning to me.

[To assist us in bringing this matter to a close, we would like to know your view on the matter.] [redacted] did not receive enough training to justify three days. The ONLY new lesson he learned was "Watch Me aka Look at Me". It was in fact your trainer that told me [redacted] would not be successful after lessons had begun. Also on the interview day there was no training done to see how [redacted] would do with the entire program. I also board dogs in my home (I had three this past weekend) and [redacted] got along with all the dogs. He also did not growl or have the behaviors toward my clients (we have done well over 20 meet and greets in my home with new clients). Because of the environment, [redacted] will not succeed. Again, I was told this by YOUR trainer! It is because he is a herding breed and he needs the people he has bonded with (myself and husband) to be actively involved. Otherwise he is uncomfortable. Also, I did not shell out $234 dollars (the price for those 3 days) for [redacted] to only learn Watch me. Again, [redacted] already knew Sit, Down, Shake prior to even coming to camp bow wow. Those didn't need to be taught. So now I need a FULL refund so I can pay a new trainer to get the job done that Camp Bow Wow failed to do.
