Review: We were told no deposit refunds would be given after 6/1.
We emailed the week of 6/29 to find out when our son's final paperwork was due and confirm that we would make final payment on 7/1. We shared that there was a delay due to my wife's serious R.A. flare. We never received a response to this email. On 7/1, my wife called to cancel my son's scheduled camp time (7/14-7/19) because of her serious health issues. The R.A. flare is extremely bad this time and our son is not comfortable leaving his mom for a week because of her added stroke risk. My wife called the main camp number to cancel and was told that no payment was showed on our account. My wife told them that we had paid $100 via credit card to hold his spot. The representative was extremely rude and told her that refunds are not issued after 6/1 because food is purchased, confirmed his cancellation, and hung up on my wife before she could debate the deposit information more. We do have the receipt and proof for the $100 deposit payment made on behalf of [redacted]. Further, there is nothing in writing stating a 6/1 deadline for cancellations and we did not sign any cancellation policy stating this. Desired Settlement: We are seeking a refund of $100 for the deposit paid for [redacted] to attend camp 7/14-7/19. We would not have cancelled had it not been for my wife's document serious health issues. We would like to have this refund made to the credit card used for payment. If not able, a check made payable to [redacted] would be acceptable.
Consumer's Final Response
We spoke to [redacted] with Camp Rockin' U on 7/9/13 regarding this complaint. It seems the entire misunderstanding was a staff training issue which he has promised to resolve in the future. [redacted] did point out that there is a statement on the registration form that covers refunds after June 1. As explained to us, this deadline corresponds to the number of foster children the camp sponsors each season. We shared with [redacted] that we would close this complaint; however, there is no option to close the complaint as satisfied. We are satisfied with our conversation and the resolution provided.
