Initial Business Response / [redacted] (1000, 8, 2016/06/06) */ [redacted] called on Monday 4/18/and talked with [redacted] about getting crv towed in because of no power concernduring conversation with [redacted] stated that he thought no power concern was related to previous recommendation for catalytic converter and that he had driven it to the point of failurevehicle came to us and [redacted] began diagnostics (vehicle had multiple codes) backpressure test of catalytic converter failed [redacted] put prices together for exhaust repair (resonator pipe and catalytic converter plus necessary hardware)vehicle was not able to be test driven due to power concernThe reason I state this is because when selling the job and talking with customer it was stated that we would first have to replace converter to be able to road test and that some of these other codes could be affected by exhaust restriction (shift points and general drivability can be greatly affected when exhaust is restricted [redacted] upon hearing prices said he would be unable to afford job and did we have alternative financingwe at the time were working with napa to finalize credit option and told [redacted] there was a possibility this might be available and we would check into itHe said he was going to explore other avenues on his ownI should state at this time [redacted] stated that his wife had hid all the credit cards and he was not allowed to use themfast forward to thursday 4/21/ [redacted] came by in the afternoonWe had not heard from him since conversation on monday and there was no phone call saying he was coming downUpon arrival thursday he asked if his car was done and ready for pick upI replied no and that we were still waiting for his authority to proceed with repairhe became very agitated at this time and started to yell at me because he had no way to work and how was it possible that we did not have his car readyhe then stated that he turned in his rental car and now he was going to have to get another rental and we should pay for it because of our neglect...after I told him we would not pay for his rental as we never had authority to proceed with the repairi asked if he would just like to pay his current diagnostic charges and take vehicle or would he like us to proceed with repair [redacted] said to continue with repair at this time I had him sign the estimate we then ordered parts and installed exhaust systemVehicle now was able to run and be test driven at this timetechnician came back from road test and stated vehicle would not shift out of first gear and check engine light was onI went back and went over Tims findings-pcode was not presentDTC P0753: Problem is Shift Solenoid Valve A Circuit was present and could not be clearedTim and I them did circuit diagnostics and determined shift solenoid A was faultyshift solenoid was serviceable without trans removal and labor time was minimali then called [redacted] and explained that vehicle was now running but would not shift out of first geari offered the shift solenoid repair as an option with the explanation that transmission was put under an extreme amount of stress because of previous converter blockage but the shift solenoid was the most economical option to get the vehicle to shift [redacted] agreed to replacementsolenoid was installed and vehicle was test driven (no check engine light and vehicle shifted normally) [redacted] was called for pick up and we had a conversation about how it was shifting goof but there had been metal contamination in solenoid cover [redacted] came in to pay for vehicle and also commented the reason he continues to come to us is because we are honest and trusts our workduring our conversation I pulled out my phone and showed him picture of previous mentioned metal contamination on solenoid and in cover [redacted] called 4/25/and said check engine light had come on my reply was to bring vehicle in and we would pull codeno shifting or driveability concerns were mentioned at this time [redacted] then talked to [redacted] tuesday afternoon and said overdrive light was flashing and what should he do [redacted] said he should tow vehicle to shop and we would look at itwednesday [redacted] called and stated that we misdiagnosed his vehicle and he wanted a refund, he was agitated and hung up on me when I said we needed to see vehicle and determine problemhis wife then called on thursday and asked me if there was a warranty on the repair, because she talked to the dealer and it sounded like the converter was faultyi then went through the whole repair diagnosis and repair information and the fact the converter was previously recommended and declinedshe seemed satisfied and thanked me for the explanation as it did not seem to match what her husband told her Initial Consumer Rebuttal / [redacted] (3000, 10, 2016/06/15) */ (The consumer indicated he/she DID NOT accept the response from the business.) the main problem was they mis diaginosed the car from the start it was a transmission issue from the start [redacted] admined to wife they are not a transmission place and recommened one the bottom line is [redacted] dollars for what the car ran for one day of high way driving the only reason ibrought it to dwr was for catalytic converter the shift solenoid [redacted] claimed the car would shift in to gear another [redacted] I trusted them but they were wrong has I stated in earier letter same code came up after car break down why would I tow it back to dwr after [redacted] they never offered a refund or any car was towed in because he drove it till it would no longer goThe engine would not run because of a completely plugged cat converterWe got the ok from the customer to fix that problem which we didThat did fix the running problemAt this point we test drove the car at which it would not shift out of first gearAt this point we scanned the car and the only code in the system was for a shift solenoidAt this point we got the ok to change that which we didTest drove car at that point car drove fineCustomer picks up carThings to note we didn't charge the customer for the time spend checking his car out for the transmission problem or driving to get the partIt sounds like he has transmission failure after this but we never saw the car after thisHe did drive the car for a few days before it failedThis is a high mileage carWe can only fix what is wrong at the time we service the carIt left are shop running fineThe part we replaced was bad and needed to be replacedAgain it went from not Ways to Protect Your Antenna
In some of the more modern cars, the radio antenna automatically goes down into the car when the radio is turned off, and in some older models it is possible to push it down manuallyIf you don't drive a car with a
collapsible antenna, then chances are that you can unscrew it and remove it from the exterior of the car before you go through the car washIn some cases, you have to use a small wrench or pliers to loosen and remove the antennaThese methods help to protect it from the rotating brushesIf your car doesn't have a collapsible or removable antenna, you can always go to a car wash that doesn't use the brushesSome car wash services use only water pressure to clean, and at those places you do not have to worry about your antenna
Via https://www.carsdirect.com
It is common practice in the automatic car wash business to remove antennas that are not collapsible to avoid damaging the antennaMany online articles (as the above article) explain this and anyone in the automatic car wash business and anyone who has ever been to an automatic car wash is aware of thisMost antennas that are not collapsible easily come off using fingers alone but in some cases a small wrench is used
Furthermore, there is a BIG sign on the driver's side entry before entering the car wash bay which reads; NOT RESPONSIBLE FOR:
*ANTENNAS
*BUG SHIELDS
*LUGGAGE RACKS
*SUN VISORS
*RUNNING BOARDS
*GLUED ON SPOILERS
*ANY NON FACTORY INSTALLED ITEMS
ALL PICK UP BEDS MUST BE FREE OF ANY OBJECTS/DEBRIS
Pictures attached of the above sign and bay entry
*** pulled up to our automatic car wash bay in his truck which didn't have a collapsible antennaSo as we do with every automatic car wash customer's vehicle that doesn't have a collapsible antenna, the attendant attempted to remove the antenna at which time the attendant felt the antenna seemed tight and therefore the attendant stoppedAt no time did *** tell the attendant not to touch his antenna
*** then started to become unhinged saying he wanted a new antenna because it was stripped out and the paint was off but the attendant refused as there was no damage done by us, the antenna was not stripped out and pointed out that his truck's antenna came in with what appeared to be a painted antenna that had paint off of approximately inches starting at the base of the antenna and that there was no new damage to his antenna that wasn't there when he pulled up therefore we were not responsible for something that occurred before the vehicle was brought to our facility
*** then left the car wash facility without getting a carwash and without paying for any service*** then came back to the car wash facility asking for a new antenna at which time he was again told no as there was about inches of paint off of the antenna before our attendant touched the vehicle and there was no damage done to the antenna by us so we weren't responsible
*** then started screaming (profanity)
He alleges his truck is "new" but appeared to be a model year prior to and likely or more years old, so it was not "new"
For the above stated reasons, we are not replacing ***'s antenna and we dispute his assertion that we "messed it up"
Initial Consumer Rebuttal /* (3000, 7, 2017/12/27) */
(The consumer indicated he/she DID NOT accept the response from the business.)
I did state to the owner that it did have some paint that wad previously chipped off, but the reason for this case was neglect and damage done without permissionI know by going through certain car washes that there is a chance for damage to certain items, but I did yell for the attendant to stop after I noticed he was using a wrench incorrectlyIs was a cheap adjustabke wrench that want tightened enough, therefore it slipped multiply times rounding off the corners at the base of my antenna and chipping off more paintThe truck is a but new to me and a certified truck since in like new conditionVehicles are not cheap these days so I was very upset to not only have someone using a wrench in it without permission but then to deny and damage at allAttached are pics of where the wrench slipped and paint chipped off

Ok once again just the facts. 1 the customers car was towed in because he drove it till it would no longer go. The engine would not run because of a completely plugged cat converter. We got the ok from the customer to fix that problem which we did. That did fix the running problem. At this point we test drove the car at which it would not shift out of first gear. At this point we scanned the car and the only code in the system was for a shift solenoid. At this point we got the ok to change that which we did. Test drove car at that point car drove fine. Customer picks up car. Things to note we didn't charge the customer for the time spend checking his car out for the transmission problem or driving to get the part. It sounds like he has transmission failure after this but we never saw the car after this. He did drive the car for a few days before it failed. This is a high mileage car. We can only fix what is wrong at the time we service the car. It left are shop running fine. The part we replaced was bad and needed to be replaced. Again it went from not shifting out of first gear to driving fine. That part need to be replaced. We can not predict the condition of internal parts of the transmission. We fixed what was wrong at the time at the time. Thank You [redacted]
