Bought a used Skid steer from Can american.
The salesman C----- seemed like a decent fella on the phone,spoke in March about the skid steer and that I was interested in purchasing it and that I had a relative in the area to come see it.
My relative went by mid May only to find out it was in pieces on the floor and C----- said that the motor was getting a rebuild.
(So far OK) Spoke to C----- after that and was told that it was still in pieces on the floor and that "Paid for merchandise comes first",
Then I thought I would go out to Sask from B.C. and see them for myself and shake some hands and make a deposit.The ASV was still in pieces but C----- assured me that by the delivery date (July 6) it would be complete and cleaned up (pressure washed ).
Got a call end of May from the receptionist at the time stating that the unit was ready to be shipped and that they were ready to receive full payment. ???
"We never agreed to ship it! C----- was going to get me some freight quotes and I would decide whether I was going to come collect it and visit relatives at the same time and trailer it back or not" I tell her. She claimed she did not know any of this.
Told reception that C----- never got back to me so I was coming out in July to trailer it back myself.
Got there in July on the 8th I believe to pick up the unit....
They were still working on it !!! unbelievable !
Then their mechanic decides to drive the unit onto my trailer himself ( I'm in the Office talking with C-----)without the braces down so the back end of my truck is up in the air
Was totally fed up by this point and just wanted an end to this fiasco.
Brought it back and had my Guys look it over turned out to be OK but needs a few things (Hey its used) the only thing it needed immediately (It was leaking oil) was a oil pan gasket as Can America would prefer to use RTV sealant (which I can only assume didn't have time to set properly) instead. (each to their own).
As I said things are OK now that my dealings with Can American are over.
Maybe its because it is a high hour little skid steer and I'm not just around the corner and they feel I won't be a repeat customer and need a new combine...I don't know.
I'm happy to have my unit and it will serve its purpose,its exactly what I needed hence my willingness to see this through and take the gamble after I saw how this was going.
Hope that Can American will not treat all their customers like I feel they have treated me (the Little Guy)

The $6500.00 rebuilt engine was what they had to do as they had the unit with over 3000 hrs on it listed for sale for $21,900 and it had no engine when we (my Uncle) came to look at it .
The rebuild was no favor and I would not have bought it if they had not stated it was going to be rebuilt.
I would never have anyone load my trailer ,so their comment or response is untrue that I asked to have it loaded,and that is why my Uncle came in to the store to tell me they were loading it while I was talking with the Manager

None of my previous comments were exaggerated or untrue and I find it appalling that they would say I requested something I most certainly did not.

There was no point talking to the Manager about any of this as our discussion about warranty and the fact that he had stated that being so far away ,and that I couldn't just bring it in if anything happened.negated any possibility of honoring any kind of warranty they might offer,left me with the option to take it or leave it. I am fine with this decision and can deal with what comes.

It was just an honest review of how 1 customer was treated at their place of business.
