The motel(formal know as Best Canadian Motel) was recently taken over by new owners and now the rooms are not being cleaned. Bathroom sink counter was dirty so I wiped it down with a face cloth, which was discolored after using it. Microwave was not cleaned, it had backed on orange food stuff. Manager refused to acknowledge that is was dirty even though he seen it and the photos I had taken. He also charged me for the night even though I did not stay. He said I was in the room so I had to pay. I had only been in the room about 10 minutes before I went to the front desk to check out.Product_Or_Service: LodgingDesired SettlementRefund Business Response Hello,The customer checked-in and immediately ask our housekeeper for extra towels. Shortly after her check-in with her significant other, the guest used the shower. She came to the front desk after 30 minutes and made a complaint. In response to the complaint, we offered her another new room, but she quickly declined and demanded for a full refund. We did not give her a refund because she had already used the room for 30 minutes. For example, the extra towels and the bathroom was clearly used. The bedding was also used. Thus, the room was no longer in a state to be re-sold. [redacted]. Moreover, we offered her a discount but this was also declined as she was only looking for a refund for a room that she had already began using. We offered various solutions to the problem, but the guest declined. [redacted] Consumer Response (The consumer indicated he/she DID NOT accept the response from the business.)I did ask for more towels right away because the sink and counter were dirty; and I did inform the cleaning lady of that. I wiped the counter off. So I did use a face cloth that go really dirty because the counter was that dirty. Then I noticed the bathroom door and knob had blackish sticky grime on it so I checked the other places, including the microwave which was filthy with someones leftover food. After that I checked the bed and I couldn't be sure they washed the sheets so I decided not to stay and told them it was dirty and was not going to stay. I did not use the shower or anything else. I did check the sheets but did not jump in the bed. I did bring my luggage in before I checked the room; my mistake. Too much was not clean and I didn't want to stay to clean it for them and there was no way to be sure about the sheets in the room after seeing the uncleanliness.The manager there did not offer me a discount and did not believe me when I said the room was not cleaned. He went to the room the to check it and came back and said it was clean. He told me everything was clean even the microwave. I showed him pictures then of the microwave and facecloth I used to clean the bathroom counter with. Still he would not believe me. I did get frustrated at that point when you can plainly see that the room was dirty and even after seeing to mess he can say to your face that everything is clean. [redacted] Final Business Response Contrary to the guest's response, our housekeeper did in fact notice that the guest did use the shower as her hair was wet and so were the extra towels she requested. The housekeeper did also confirm that the bedding was also used. [redacted]. We would like to repeat that the guest used the room for around 30 minutes already by the time she came up to the front desk to voice her concerns. Moreover, the guest has suggested in her response above that our cleaners are less than par and different than before. However, the housekeeping staff has remained exactly the same since the ownership change. [redacted]Contrary to the guest's response again, the motel did offer two resolutions to the guest's complaint. A discount was offered and even the option to change rooms. Both was declined immediately and the guest was only looking for a full refund after already spending some time in the room. We would like this guest to no longer be unhappy. Therefore, we would like to offer her a half price discount for her next night stay at our motel.Thank you,
